My touchscreen started freezing yesterday, nothing seems to fix it now, it's the same after rebooting. I've got the TFT Orange San Francisco. Flashed it back to the stock Orange rom & it still happens. Is it a hardware issue?

Same problem with my ZTE, wake it from sleep and not able to unlock phone (using pattern)

You can adjust volume and holding the powerbutton on you get the option to power off etc but the screen does not respond.

Had the same problem with Fibblescan's Froyo and also's Pauls R3 (current)

having to remove the battery each time is a joke........

I did notice it happen twice in one day, dont know if it was cold outside and putting into warm pocket caused it to happen more than normal. (normal being once every few days or week)

I had a very few freezes before today, but suddenly it got out of hand. I needed several tries to get the pin number inserted as the screen had practically no response. I took the battery out several times and I even removed cache and my user settings and flashed several different rom versions.

The trick in mELIANTE's seems to have fixed my problems so far, thank you so much for that :( I hope the problem is fixed now.

And btw the firmware I've been using is Paul's 2.2 alpha 3

Mine freezes every time i lock it up and i really dont have any kind of idea why it really does it.

I have TFT, 512 ram and 5mp camera, so typical finnish blade.

Same thing with my Blade with similar specs. Unless someone with Finnish Blade 512 ram 5mp camera proofs something else I would nearly suggest this as a "known issue". Same thing with all froyo roms. Instant freeze when first time entering Lock Screen. Widget Locker seemed to help, but only for a few times before the problem came back.

Edit: Checking now Japanese Jellyfish RLS1. See if it works.

Don't bother, unfortunately it freezes also. :( Has anyone tried Sebastian's new ROM on Finnish Blade (it should have the Japanese kernel)?

Edit: Oops, not Japanese kernel after all but from V880 leak.

I have tried r0.2_update_de_softened_blade_signed. Same thing as Japanese_Jellyfish_RLS1. Can't use since both want something that don't excist. Finnish_Fillyjonk_RLS4 is only one (and good) for Finnish Blade. But even that don't support 5mb camera unless you replace the kernel with the original kernel.

Hi all,

It seems to be a common misconception that the screen freezes, and I would like to stamp this heresy out. . .

In all the cases I have witnessed, over multiple 2.2 ROMs on multiple SF's the screen does not freeze, more that the digitizer does not translate any touch events into the OS.

The clock still counts, 3G symbol displays data usage etc. so Android is still running ok and the screen its self is still updating. by describing the symptoms clearly and accurately I think it will help in diagnosis so I request that OP edits the description. I am currently troubleshooting when this happens (just happened on my new install of Sebs de-softened ROM).

At me after installing alpha 4 too began to appear lockscreen freeze. Appear about time in two days, notification messages aren't present at this time. I Has tried widgetlocker, hasn't helped. Now I try application "no lock". On alpha 3 freeze wasn't.

I can't understand because of what it happens.

What, just squeezing the sides of the phone or the power button (or whatever it is) like in the video, or do you mean installing the alternate lock screen?

Yer your correct, the screen is not "FROZEN" as items are still displayed and can change.. and yes again appears to be the interface between finger and screen not working...

As I said before it was cold outside when I had the problem twice in a short space, used the phone put in pocket screen facing leg, then a minute or so later had the problem... dont know if it was just unlucky or going from COLD 2 HOT then back to Cold made it fail??? Ill try it later... Fridge, Warm leg, then test......

Mine only seems to lock if I have run the camera app... once its run its pretty sure sometime after that to freeze... doesnt lock up at any other time

I have the stock orange ROM, and get lockscreen freezes.

Just had my first freeze on JJ.

It has to be the leaked V880 Kernel that causes it.

We'll know when we get something else :-)

:-(

the newly updated mcr alpha4 just freezed this morning.

but the old pre-alpha also did,

so no leaked kernel issue.

I've installed this app and set my min speed and I'll see how it goes. Three locks in an hour this morning and then nothing since - it's hard to see a pattern to the freezes!

I've been running for a while with minimum speed of 320 as recommended earlier in this thread (using setCPU). I've had my first lockup today in several days. Most annoying thing is they mostly happen away from the house - when you want to use your phone the most.

(Once again I had a GMail notification waiting as the screen stopped responding).

Seeing as people are getting this problem on the stock firmware it would suggest a hardware problem or problems with ZTE's implementation of Android.

Yes, I've given up trying to find out why I get a freeze. I'm just going to have to pull the battery out when it happens.

My less than a week old Orange branded UK blade is doing the same thing. That youtube video is crazy, who would have thought that would fix it? Trick does work for me. Surely this is a hardware fault - screen randomly stops responding to touch for me at any point, NOT just when unlocking. Not using froyo, using Hungarian hedgehog eclair rom.

I think its the lockscreen...

I used to get this at least once a week but since I disabled the lock screen I've not had it once. It's been a month so far.

Ooh! That's an idea. As it's a capacitive screen a lock screen is a bit superfluous anyway surely? Is that just an option in settings? Or an App? Sorry for not checking myself - don't have my phone with me.

The freezes are the only thing putting me off Froyo.

I'm getting a 'freezing' problem, which first happened after a few hours using the 2.1 deoranged rom. I've now managed to flash the orange stock rom and the same problem persists.

I lose touch screen input on the lock screen, and even removing the battery and rebooting doesn't help. Only thing that got the screen working again was charging the battery to 100%...

Seems in my case to be battery related. Touch screen first froze when I plugged the phone into my laptop to charge...

Going to have to return it as faulty I think.

Install app "No lock" from market.
