Guest isambard Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Ok, seems like you are right. For the first time, squeezing the phone is solving my issues... :-( So has to be a hardware issue. I'm from Belgium and cannot get my phone replaced. I can ship it to them, but they do not reship it out of the UK. Going to contact a friend in the UK, maybe they can ship/receive it for me :-( i have the same issue on my phone. squeezing the case at a certain place fixes. it also happened on my 2nd phone but that one stopped working completely. i'm about to replace that one, but may try to replace this one also. the issue doesn't happen all that often though...

Guest xtasy Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I have noticed one interesting thing. But let's start from the beginning: I have been using FLB releases all the time as they were the most stable for me. However, Eclair ones have had a screen lock each 2-3 days. Then after we got new Kernel I have upgraded to FLB Froyo and "screen locks" disapeared. And then after a week or so I have experienced screen lock issue again, but I also noticed one thing that it occured when my phone was charging. That time I just rebooted device. Then after a couple of days I experienced the same thing when charging my phone, so I tried just to disconnect charger and it worked! Screen became clickable again. So maybe this screen freeze problem is somehow related to "charging mode"? Also one additional interesting thing, after first screen freeze when I taken out my battery it started to deplete very fast, so I had recalibrate it again, after it it works fine.
Guest JohnMetz Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 From my experience I was getting lock screen freezes regularly when on the alpha modaco froyo ROM. Last Thursday I updated to r7 and then r11 and have not had a single lock screen freeze since. I am not sure whether others' experience is the same. John
Guest razordprincenpg Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 I experienced some screen freezes on my ZTE Blade running Modaco alpha 3, i just changed to the Japanese Jellyfish ROM now but the same problem, the very odd response from the screen just after a reboot, i can receive texts and calls but i cant unlock my screen to answer them, the only way i can power down is by taking the battery out. So basically im locked out of my device, any ideas??

Guest razordprincenpg Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 My Blade seems to be all over the place now, the touchscreen is so unresponsive , i was running the custom froyo alpha 3, but then tried Japanese Jellyfish, with the same problem, the only thing that does help is squeezing the top of the handset at the top but its madness to have to keep that up. It wont unlock unless i do that which makes answering calls very hit and miss, when i press an icon on screen, the app 2 places to the right of that opens up instead! when texting, i press the letter "m" and a "z" is typed instead, or i press the back button on the Qwerty and the letter "m" is input, so ive gone back to my Samsung Tocco Lite at this stage which is pretty sad indeed!
Guest Alaike Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) ]Hi, i bought this phone on ebay, its also a zte blade orange san fransisco, witch looked like it was working properly. But after a day it was badly responding to my touches. Bij Twisting the phone i could get it going again but this also stoped after one day. I emaild the purchaser of the phone and he said i could not return it. He told me to push on the sanfransisco logo that is on the front of the phone. I tried and was surpriced that the phone was working again.......but only for a few hours so i pushed it again but after a few more try`s this also didnt do the trick anymore...so i deceided to open the phone tho see wat could be the problem. I looked at he flatkabel with the digitizer on it, and pushed the digitizer with a little push between mij fingers( the front end the back of the digitizer)........and then i discoverd it worked again.....so there was something not connected properly to the flatcabel. So i took my soldering station/device and made the smallest end on it i could make and touched every connection of the digitizer and also the other parts that are connected on the flatcabel........and as a result it WORKT..yahoo yahoo!!....and i am now 6 days furter and stil had no singels freeze and even no wierd touchscreen experience. i even jused a touchscreen tester!!! I made some pictures of what and were to do it!! Sorry for my bad englisch, but i hope averyone understand what i am saying. I Think its a bit of a breaktrue and helpd a lot af people on this supurb forum!!expecially for those who havent got any garanty!!!!! See the other post about the screenproblem, with pictures of what i did. http://android.modaco.com/content-page/319...0/#entry1594493 Let me know if succesfully tried the same thing i did......phone is stil working 9 days, and didnt had a single freeze/lockup Edited February 9, 2011 by Alaike
Guest JobSup Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 I got my Base Lutea (Blade, 5MP, TFT) just a few days ago and since I switched to the current FLB10b I also get random lock screen freezes. With the last one, even pulling the battery didn't help. I had to boot into recovery and do a factory reset and wipe all caches, only then it was gone. The other freeze I got was just after flashing the CM7 nightly 22. On the first boot, not being able to unlock the SIM. Gave up on the CM7 nightlies right away and went back to FLB10 :D It would be good to hear that it is NOT hardware related, but I am not so sure...
Guest nastymcpasty Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Hello, Im new to this forum but have been following this thread and theres been some pretty usefull things, thanks guys. Okay anyway I think Ive found the solution. to start with I had the following symptoms: screen unresponsive plugging charger seemed to help running on 2.2 (cant remember the version but thats not important) random lock ups got progressively worse each time I rebooted (from taking the battery out) would lock when I got a text or notification after countless resets and very little working time with the phone I started to leave the cover off and when I re-started it would work again then when replacing the cover it would lock up. which led me to think that it is acctually hardware (Id tried all sorts of things to fix it software wise, which led me to discover some pretty usefull apps and get to know my phone so time not wasted). Anyway as far as a solution is concerned when you put a little pressure on the camera corner or the screen it locks up again and when you let go it works again (for me anyway) so I think the back cover squashes it. Id had the cover off for a day or so and had only minor lock ups which was huge bonus, anyway I simply loosened up the top two screws a few turns and so far no freezes, plus I can the cover back on. I only did this a few hours ago so Ill post back in hopefully a freeze free weeks time Best of luck!

I only did this a few hours ago so Ill post back in hopefully a freeze free weeks time Best of luck! i think there are 2 problems - one hardware and one software. on the hardware side, there is a ribbon connector which is often loose. one guy took his blade apart and soldered it into place. this fixes it. i think symptoms of this are when battery cover is taken on/off or you can squeeze the top of the blade or press the power button to fix it. The fix: solder the connector. the second problem appears to be controller chip initialization. there has now been a kernel patch fix which reportedly fixes this reliably.

Hello again! okay so my harware problems seem to be fixed now, I had to do a little more tinkering (I took the back off and superglued it back on a little looser) had no screen locks for about a week or so since I did that and still going strong. thanks for the reply isambard, is there a giude to getting the new kernel, I dont think I need it as everythings running smoothly but it could come in handy. Good luck to everyone else having the same problems xxxx
