you can copy the sh from xbin to /system/bin if it's been accidentally deleted.. or if it's there, it's a permissions problem... use terminal and root to fix

1.5.0 installs perfectly fine. Its only when i try to install 1.5.1. How could i have accidentally deleted something? It's just steves 1.5.1, I havent modified it.

Thank you for your great work! I am now in offical 318 rom ,and I want to upgrade to 1.5.1, but I have two questions. the first one ,can i come back to offical 318 through recovery mode by the 318 pkg files? will the programs i have installed dispear when i came back? Sencond, does the 1.5.1 have Chinese(simple) langue?

I am a greenhand in android sysytem, I knew little about it. So, many thanks for you guys.

The system natively displays Chinese, but all the menus, etc. are in English, of course. I personally use PinYin with Swype to write Simplified Chinese and with TouchPal to write Traditional Chinese. TouchPal also has a handwriting method and more. With TouchPal you can switch between both Simplified and Traditional, but I find switching keyboards quicker.

Flashed this thing using the New Streak Recovery and it worked like a charm. Even all programs and settings were carried over from 315. Just 2 programs (Kindle and one which I forgot) had to be un-installed and re-installed to work properly. Thanks to both authors for the great job they did. Rotation finally seems to work properly.

Like the new transition animations, which make everything feel speedy. One problem I had with the official 2.2 and which still exists in Steve's 1.5.1 is unencrypted PPTP. Now we all know that Android can't properly work with encrypted PPTP. However, I have same problem with an unencrypted PPTP VPN connection. It connects easily enough, but then it works only for a few more seconds. After that no more data, no browsing, no e-mail, nothing. A laptop and an HTC Desire work fine over the same connection. Any ideas?

Hi all,

Just moved from Steve's V1.2 to this latest build V1.5.1 by just copying the zip file to my SD card and flashing that with no reset or clearing of anything and all i can say is wow what a difference in speed and i unlike some i really like the new animations and new Swype Keyboard. Everything is still working as it was prior to the new flash except faster and smoother and so far i haven't even bothered with overclocking as yet, Once more brilliant work by Steve and yet another great Rom from you that continues to make our Streaks the best once again many thanks for all you do its greatly appreciated.

If you're using Rebel Sim you should use no baseband, but if you're a regular customer update the baseband and use the new baseband version from the first post.

on another note I am having Bluetooth issues on this build that I haven't had before. When streaming music it constantly break in and out, and if using an earpiece it drops the call. I have had no problems like this what so ever before.

on another quandry anyone haveing issues with Java and the 2.3 SDK installing correctly? I have been reading all day about to no avail.

ps. Twitter is working just fine for me (official)

you using wifi? it goes out when searching for wifi, I've noticed this when I've accidentally left wifi on while in my car... I've also had a different (but falls in the same category) issue once or twice (where it stutters instead of dropping a second or two every few minutes), This happened while using Winamp, killing the (winamp) task after being connected with bluetooth seemed to fix the problem.

The wifi thing I'll have to check, because I do have it on 100% of the day. I have used PowerAmp and the stock player, both resulting in the same?

I have the same experience. I have no new apps installed so it must be the new build.

I'm seeing that a process called mediaserver uses the cpu non stop and takes up most of the battery life. I just reformatted my sd card and am trying to see if it helps.Other than this the only other thing new on this update I did was flash the dsp1.mbn from Steve. Is there an older version of this file I can flash to check?

Yeah, this will happen to me when doing A2DP audio with WIFI on but not connected, regardless of what app is playing the music.

I am seeing that this build does have a difference in battery life. Two days I have woke to a dead device for the first time in months of builds. This is not from full charge, but at least 60% or so.

I have the same problem. I upgraded from 1.6, and Steve's 1.5.1 is absolutely amazing. Of course it has a few bugs here and there, don't really mind. But I'm losing about 10% to 14% battery per hour, and it's almost impossible to get through even 6 or 7 hours on a single charge :)

For those with battery issues: I noticed that the new Facebook app absolutely murders battery life. Even when I turn of notifications, as long as its in the background I am losing around 12% an hour. So chalk it up to bad programming I guess.

I never have touched F@ckbook and I never will.

I don't use facebook, and haven't installed anything new since the last build which gave significantly better battery life. I'm intrigued by Stephen's report of 20% battery drop over 10 hrs... If I could have that with the latest build 1.5.1 I would be ecstatic.

Stephen, are you using SetCPU to manage your processor speed, or something else? should we uninstalled universal androot completely now that you root in the build natively?

p.s. I'm used to the windows animation now - don't mind it at all... :)

Cheers

I've just noticed that, using ' on demand ' power governor mode, the processor spends a lot more time bouncing into top speed when previously it would have sat at the minimum speed.

Could this be due to something related to the 'perfmod' module?

Cheers

Interesting, though not much use... Could it be due to upgrading without a full reset? I have just applied your updates without factory reset and apart from the battery performance, everything else is working fantastically well.

Cheers
