Guest alert_bri Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 pass, i hjad to fac reset to boot so cant coment Well, we know that you did a factory reset and get good battery performance... I didn't do a factory reset and have poor battery... Anyone out there do a factory reset and still experience poor battery performance? Cheers, and thanks for everything Steve Brian
Guest zedeff Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 I did a factory reset and got really bad battery life. Now today I have done the entire 1.5.1 again with the new base band again and factory reset. No Facebook and I have also formatted my SD card. Now I think it seems back to normal like my 1.4.6 performance. I'm holding off on Facebook for a day. Also so far I have not installed any of my apps back except for Laputa book reader. I'm just copying back my videos and photos back onto SD. Let you know by 2morrow evening how it goes. I do like to use Facebook so its a big pain for me if that's the culprit.
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 i also dont touch facecrap for reference tho i do hammer twitter

I don't think you'll get a good reference point if you don't install all of your apps again (except facebook). It could be any number of them that are causing the battery issue. I have installed to date (according to Titanium backup) 536 apps. My phone doesn't chew through the battery most days, and I have facebook and twitter open on my desktops screens. However some days it'll run flat in 6/7 hours, this is rare and I can only put it down to some rogue app not closing properly and maitaining cpu usage in the background. Most days it'll last from coming off charge off 6am until 11-12pm.... I'm on 1.5.0 still.
Guest alert_bri Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 I'm going to try 'conservative' governor with a range of 245-1267mhz and 245-245 'powersave' for screen off for a while... See how that works. Cheers Brian
Guest rovex Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Could there just be a bad batch out there? I use mine for about an hour to 90mins of varied use and an additional hour of Wifi tethering and im usually left with 45% after a 10hr working day. Occasionally i do end up with less than 20% for no clear reason. Interestingly if i leave the phone for a while the percentage goes back up a bit. I think the mechanism for detecting the battery charge condition maybe a bit flaky.
Guest jmhalder Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Some people hammer their phones harder than others, I got through being at work for 9 hours, left with 60% battery, other days are ~30%. I do a factory reset on all new builds, its a pain, but I dont have to worry about problems.

Guest dairymasta Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Just to add, further to my.problem of taki g decades to charge and rinsing in minutes, I woke up this morning, checked my phone and saw it had stopped charging at 96% and had the error on the screen "battery has taken too long to charge" Never had that error before, quite worried for my battery now?
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 id be inclined to say your battery or the carging circuit is borked as my streaks now fully charged and has been for about an hour and i only put it on after my message posted @ 11:17
Guest dairymasta Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 To be fair, I just checked it again after posting that an hour ago, and my battery is indeed still on 100%, so I guess it's not rinsing fast anymore. It just takes way longer to charge than it normally should?

It just takes way longer to charge than it normally should? Here is a very good article on mobile phone batteries! http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/12/14/yo...-battery-drain/
Guest Techneut Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 This one, too, is a very interesting article dealing with too fast battery drainage! http://www.androidpolice.com/2009/11/26/ho...s-your-battery/
Guest alert_bri Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 I think there could be a problem with SetCPU and this latest perfmod kernel... Just seen the streak lock into maximum CPU speed. Had to restart to get it back into scaling speed. Is there an alternative we could use? what are you using Steve? Cheers Brian

Guest somebody9 Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Alright, so last night before I went to bed I removed Facebook and a lot of my Applications to see if that would stop the battery from bleeding so quickly. Unfortunately, when I woke this morning the battery still had a very significant loss to it. To see if I could find out some more about this I went to Spare Parts > Battery History. Something caught my eye here - it said : Time spent without sleeping 10h 28m 2s ( 99.98% ) This seems very strange to me since the device hadn't been touched for over 10 hours and the display was off. Does this mean that the Streak is not sleeping when not being used? Or am I mistaken about what Sleep means in this context? Despite having removed a lot of Apps, I'm losing about 15% per hour. No SetCPU, No Facebook, no multiple Email accounts.
Guest offthahorse Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 this may have been covered already, but i noticed 1.5.1 has the higher OC kernel option. Is this enabled by default? if so, has it been deemed "safe"? Also, as usual i should keep all my apps and app info and app settings right? sideloaded and market dl'ed...
Guest alert_bri Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Using SetCPU, I've opted for the simplest 245-1267MHz in 'conservative' mode, and this seems to offer excellent performance while ensuring good battery life. Cheers Brian
Guest zedeff Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 I finally went back to 1.4.6 and bam the battery life is back to normal. Over an hour and still at 100%. 2morrow I will reinstall my apps one at time hourly and check to see the result. Then maybe upgrade back to 1.5.1 or hopefully Gingerbread soon if Steve does his magic soon.
Guest popetodd Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) 1.5.1 is your best so far! No problems, fast as hell and spiffy twisty menu movements for added fun. Merry Saturnalia Mr Hyde, donation has been sent. Edited December 19, 2010 by popetodd
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 DONT USE 1222 OR 1267 ON A REGULAR BASIS IT REQUIRES A HUGE OVERVOLT TO USE AD COULD FRY YOUR CPU, SO USE IT SPARINGLY

I had set SetCPU profile on charging with 227... Clocking but don't have problems ! :-/
Guest LorD CLockaN Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Still, don't use it on regular basis.. if you love your streak...
Guest Bizzach Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 DONT USE 1222 OR 1267 ON A REGULAR BASIS IT REQUIRES A HUGE OVERVOLT TO USE AD COULD FRY YOUR CPU, SO USE IT SPARINGLY ie, only use it temporarily to run Quadrant. Then reset it back to 1.19 or lower!
Guest Mr Kyle Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 The lockups i was experiencing have seemed to disappear and I am getting FANTASTIC battery life. Got ~36 hours with moderate usage this weekend.
