Guest rockymtnbri Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Try it and see if it makes things worse or better, then you will know... good chance it will improve battery life and maybe reception. If you can't be arsed then don't bother Well, I guess that's an answer since I don't know what context you're using the word "arsed" in. I'll try it this weekend and see.
Guest anthscorner Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Took 1.5.3 on a test drive today. Drove from Wigan to Newcastle did the following; Sat Navigation, Bluetooth stereo headset playing music using meridian with full play controls on headset through auxiliary port on car stereo, made and recieve calls using same bluetooth stereo headset. Did a couple of tweet updates via tweetdeck. All good. Drove from Newcastle back to Wigan did the following; Sat navigation, rockplayer played 2 movies through Bluetooth stereo headset in car auxiliary port and made calls, all good. Running adw ex and all is good. Top job Steve and all contributors.
Guest BrumBrum74 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Is the GPS (rebooting) problem still there in this version like in 1.5.2? I just had this now on 1.5.3

Guest jnovello Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Only issues I'm having are display time seems to reset after every shut off, so while I set it to never time out the next time its on it goes off in a few seconds. Also, it never asks what my preferred home is on boot.
Guest anthscorner Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 What make and model is your Bluetooth stereo headset? Nokia BH-214 it has a 3.5mm jack port for headphones or patch lead into my car stereo auxiliary port.
Guest symbiotix Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 You're the effin man Steve! The shout-outs at the end of the install were a real classy touch! Bravo!
Guest degriz Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 getting crashes with camera 360 which had gone away in the prev release... :D U got an email I can send logs?
Guest LiamD Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Installed latest fine cheers Steve. One question to everyone: Does anyone get the phone randomly slowing down needing you to lock the screen and unluck it to make it stop being slow? Mine keeps doing it and it's getting annoying.
Guest twe Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 THANK YOU this just happened to a co-worker... you're a life saver. (Well... phone saver... close enough.) Yeh it was really annoying. I actually work in testing software and that would have been a major failure.

I have that but for a while now.. all 1.5.x at the very least. It seems to be affecting some but not all.
Guest DeathOfAllThings Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) So does anyone else have the problem of constant force closes for the actual phone app. It's like I get a call, I answer it, then when the person hangs up, my phone gets the force close thing, I force close, lose signal for a few seconds, then it comes back. It's a little annoying, wondering if there's a fix. I've had this problem on every version since 1.5. Edited January 8, 2011 by DeathOfAllThings

I've had this problem on every version since 1.5. im having this FC at phone app also. weird. and i dont know if it just me but, here in the usa, seems like my signal recption went bad. especially inside buildings. 1.5.3 is nice but on my last streak before it broke it was running 1.4.6 and everything was good (including signal inside buildings). might go back to 1.4.6 and see the difference in signal strength.

I had that issue with the lst two versions, but only if the person I was talking to hung up before I did. I havnt had the problem with 1.5.2 yet. Wait on fring support for .3 update.
Guest TheSacredSoul Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Ok weird. I went to sleep with 95% battery left with just wifi on. Woke up 10 hours later with a completely dead phone. Battery meter shows 0%. So I plugged it in to power. It wont even boot up now... EDIT: It booted up finally. I'd really like the new bootanimation. Can anyone upload it to mediafire please?? EDIT 2 : I dont know what I was thinking... I just extracted it from the 1.5.3 update. lol. Guest rockymtnbri Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 So I'll ask the question again - my baseband is 30900US. Should I upgrade my baseband to whatever is newest, and what advantages will I see? I just flashed 1.5.3 on my phone without the baseband update and it seems to be working fine. Also, if I flash the baseband, do I need to rebuild my screens? I remember having to do that for one iteration of updates and changes. Answered both questions myself - my baseband was updated via the amss flash to 31800-US, and the flash DID NOT change anything as far as my screens go. I am having issues with data connectivity, but that may be because of JuiceDefender's software change.
Guest Roperband Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Hey guys, if I updated my baseband for 1.5.2 do I need to do it again for 1.5.3?
Guest killerbz Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 use root explorer.. go to system/app and there you can delete setcpu before that go to system/etc and there give permissions to removeapps.sh to executable.. run that script by tapping, than go to system/app and delete launcherpro and adw if you don't use them.. I use adwex removeapps.sh removes some dell official apps like stage etc... Is that "Root Explorer" from Market? Is there no other way to delete programs other than buying a Root Explorer or does someone know of a free app?

Guest Cue_32 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Is that "Root Explorer" from Market? You can see a sample of rm commands in system/etc/removeapps.sh

The good news is that the battery consumption with 1.5.3 combined with setcpu is better than juicedefender altogether Now only if I could get both running concurrently :D

Guest DeathOfAllThings Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 I know I did a few versions ago, perhaps my problem was thinking I didn't need to update it with new version. I'll try that.
Guest superutp Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 wts the baseband supposed to be in 1.5.2 and 1.5.3?? I am running 1.5.2 with baseband 31800-EU...is tht the updated one or not??
Guest reclaim Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) I was actually having some extreme force close problems with 1.5.2. For whatever reason the problems are completely gone on 1.5.3. However I am now having some extreme force close problems with my camera. it won't even start up. As soon as I try to start it, it force closes. Edited January 8, 2011 by reclaim
