Better in the U.S than London bit im sure it'll get sorted The speed of it is just amazingly fast! Everything works great in France with Paul R4. It's smooth. Vectorial maps are grreat ! :)

Guest Polythene Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Bit gutted not all of the new features work on the SanFran. Should be lovely when they all do work though!
Guest xenopod Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 with pauls 2.2 rom i can use google maps, just installed new v5 and street view and confirm 3d zoom works and compas works on my blade with wifi and gps enabled, i turned the phone and it followed the direction and everything, i can zoom to street level and tilt, I live in Goole, UK so everyone should be able to use it just clear caches and install google maps version 5 and streetview and thats it, excellent stuff
Guest Arr Too Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Confirmed working in the latest Froyo -- even got the new market now, too. As noted above, the only UK places with 3D buildings seem to be Cardiff and Birmingham, but the tilt and compass modes work really nicely. I tried it in 2.1 and got the 3D buildings but no tilt or anything else.

But todays New Maps for Android 5.0 is not fully compatible with the Blade even Froyo. We've got two-finger tilt and 3D vector building zoom but were not getting the 360 rotate option or normal compass which is surprise considering we have the streetview option. It seems to be a hardware option not software. "Phones that will get the full Maps for Mobile 5 experience include the Samsung Galaxy S, the Motorola Droid, Droid X, Droid 2 and Droid Incredible, the HTC Evo, the Google Nexus S, and T-Mobile G2. (Notably missing from this list is the Google Nexus One.)" Clearing the caches out unfortunately won't fix this. ;)
Guest xosevp Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) I can get the slide fingers down bit to work OK in both portrait and landscape mode.... but I dont understand if it lets us do this why can't we rotate?!?!?!?! :) Update: i've read the Comments on the Marketplace and seems Rotate Not compatible with the Nexus One, Samsung Captivate and mytouch Slide ...so its not just us Blades! from : http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/a...?answer=1079043 Overview: Touchscreen Gestures Supported Devices The following devices support touchscreen gestures in Google Maps for Android version 5.0. Due to hardware limitations, certain Android devices may not fully support every gesture available. Fully-supported devices: The following devices support panning, zooming, tilting, and rotating gestures. * Samsung Nexus S * Samsung Galaxy S * Motorola Droid * Motorola Droid 2 * Motorola Droid X * HTC Incredible * HTC EVO 4G * HTC G2 Partially-supported devices: The following devices support panning, zooming, and tilting gestures only. * HTC Desire * Sony Ericsson X10 * LG Ally * HTC Nexus One Note: * Rotating gestures require Android OS 2.2 or later. * This list of devices may be incomplete and may change in the future as new Android phones are available for purchase. Hmm.. what do you mean by "normal compass" not working? As far as I can see, the only option not working is the 360 degree rotation.
Guest Rem1x Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Almost all of it works, aside from the twisting gesture, on 2.2 :)
Guest Magnets Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) Using stock 2.1 and I just updated from stock maps to 5.0, all that seems to have changed is that I now have the search bar/icons at the top of my screen. It's still loading tiles, no tilt, no 3d buildings. I presume it doesn't have offline mode either since menu->more doesn't contain any cache options (just labs/help/terms/about) edit: 3d buildings doesn't work in satellite view, normal maps only. Guest Arr Too Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 In 2.1 you will get 3D buildings (if you go close enough in, and only Cardiff & Birmingham in the UK, but New York, etc. in the US). You don't get anything else. It's all been saved for 2.2 (on the Blade, at least).
Guest Niks10 Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 What 's fuss about offline catching? How do we use it?
Guest fredewis Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 is it me or did the update mest up youtube antone try it for me runing mcr 2.2r4
Guest ejhollin Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I'm on Flibblesan's ROM (2nd version) and I can't get the vector mode. There's no cache option in the menu. Maybe this version of Froyo isn't recognised by Maps 5.0?

Guest ejhollin Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Also running Fibblesans ROM, works fine. Try typing in Manhattan and then zoom in close. I can see 3d-looking buildings but it's still tile-based as I can't rotate
Guest Magnets Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 3D buildings doesn't work with satellite view.
Guest Niks10 Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 3D buildings doesn't work with satellite view. They were not meant to be, in this version.
