Guest Radimus Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 The contacts have to be in your goggle acct contacts, ie in the gmail acct that you have your phone registerred with. It does the decoding server-side and parses against those contact names

But the other thing I noticed was that make sure the default language is set for the appropriate English. I know there are several roms floating around and most have them set to UK English by default (which should work for you judging from your location in your profile), but you should double check it. As it turns out it didn't work well for me when I was speaking English, but my phone was expecting to hear "Proper English" as my friends from the UK call it :) Just as an aside - I don't know why Google didn't make Voice Search usable over bluetooth. What a missed opportunity! Ed Edited December 20, 2010 by Ed Venture
Guest steve1401 Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) You need to set your default voice to 'English (Generic)' - it may be on 'English (UK)' or another non generic one. This worked for me... Press Menu -> Setting -> Voice Input/Output -> Voice Recognizer Settings -> Language -? set to English (Generic) Edited December 23, 2010 by steve1401
Guest Mr.Clark Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Thanks! It's not perfect, but at least it opens the text app and puts some (mostly) relevant stuff in it.
Guest Wee Thomas Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 this sucks. I was hoping to get more use out of my phone despite the broken lcd. I guess I'll just have to wait till my replacement screen arrives.
