Guest tranceformer88 Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 I use Skyfire for my main browser as it plays some flash videos through it's server (transcodes it) but also have Dolphin HD because I have the pdf addon which allows me to pdf webpages which I want to read later when I have no wi-fi connection (don't use the mobile connection) - have found this very useful.
Guest targetbsp Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) I've tried them all and I went for Miren. But web browsers are the one program above all others that seem to be a matter of personal preference so... :D Edited February 20, 2011 by targetbsp
Guest phlum Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Is there no love for the original standard browser? I use the vanilla browser. It's functional and snappy enough. But what's this I hear about Skyfire being able to play flash videos? Does that mean videos like on blip.tv and such - or stuff like Newgrounds?
Guest richardop Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) I've found opera mini to be the fastest of all browsers I've tried. I tried opera mobile a while ago, but it seemed a lot slower. Edited February 20, 2011 by richardop
Guest Meizirkki Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) Miren. It's fast, and not bloated like skyfire and dolphin. I was an Opera Mobile user but it fails on some sites.. like this forum. Edited February 20, 2011 by Meizirkki
Guest Poodha Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Opera Mini is definitely the fastest browser to me. Dolphin Mini is the browser with the best UI to me, but I'm starting to think about switching since it's slower than Opera. Just a bit hesitant about using a browser that sends all the data to be filtered through a server. The stock browser would be great as well if it wasn't so terrible at handling tabs. My only complain about it, but a dealbreaker. One of the reasons I love dolphin mini, you can switch tabs by just pressing the volume buttons. What's the difference between opera mobile and mini? I'm interested in skyfire now as well. What kind of flash does it handle?
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 try browser listed here it's very personal depend what you do with it some are better for one task but not for another
Guest SqueakyG Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Opera Mobile The finished version of Opera Mini :D Because its the fastest and doesn't lag What is the difference between Opera Mini and Opera Mobile? You say it is "the finished version", but it's a beta? I don't really like Opera Mini -- I don't like the way it renders pages, or the fact that you can't pinch-zoom. But it's necessary when using 3G rather than wifi because it's the only browser that ignores ridiculous "Orange Safeguard" censorship that blocks half of the internet.

Guest vareBlade Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) Dolphin Mini for me but man i wish Firefox 4 was available :D Edited February 20, 2011 by vareBlade
Guest ellhead Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 opera mini for me. I like the way it renders pages and only loads what you need. great for 2g and 3g. only problem is I haven't found a way of loading PC pages rather than mobile pages. also uni webpage doesn't like it at all. I use dolphin when I need it. I tried skyfire but looked too cluttered to me. I'm supprised Google hasn't made a better browser like, I love chrome for the PC.
Guest felix_ Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 I´m using Opera Mobil for the normal browsing and Skyfire for playing Flash-Vids :D
Guest richardkemp Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Despite paying for xScope (also a great browser) I use Miren almost exclusively as the xScope UI seems to lag a little for me.
Guest sej7278 Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Look here. according to that page the only difference on android is mini uses serverside compression and rendering and mobile uses the phone's hardware, so surely mini is better?
Guest Azurren Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 according to that page the only difference on android is mini uses serverside compression and rendering and mobile uses the phone's hardware, so surely mini is better? It also shows that Mobile can also use serverside if requested and that mini was designed for lesser devices. The proof is in the pudding, try them both and see for yourself.. Or just take my word for it to save you the trouble :D Alot of interest in this miren browser, gotta try it out!

Opera mini and opera mobile are thought as two separated browsers. Opera mini compresses (up to 90% compression) the whole site and forwards the compressed version to you. It's by far the fastest on slow networks and it uses noticeably less data, but because it does show you the compressed site, it may have some errors in rendering. This is what makes opera mini unique. Opera mobile is a "fully fledged" browser, lets rendering the whole page to the phone, just like on the PC. You have the ability to turn on Opera turbo (just like on the PC version), that will only compress images though and not the whole site. I use opera mini as my main browser, when things don't render correctly I use miren, when I have flash videos I use Skyfire. @phillai, why didn't you use search before opening a new topic? Here. Guest IronDoc Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 I use Miren normally and Dolphin when I need Lastpass integration. I usually keep Opera Mobile installed since it's the only browser that formats certain websites correctly for me. Don't use Opera or Dolphin much though.
Guest Maz2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 I use Skyfire for BBC iPlayer radio as it is the only way to access this on a Blade. (And which idiot at the BBC decided that you need Flash for audio anyway? Duh.) I never use it for anything else as it is very cluttered up with Twitface buttons and much too sloooooowwwwww. For everything else I use Opera Mobile.
Guest mouseman99 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Just tried Opera mini and Mobile. I find Mini to be so fast (in fact so much faster than any other browser I have tried), so thanks for the recommendation. I dont however like their pinch/zoom. Its either too distant or too close. Such a shame Opera mobile's viewing is a lot better but I find it to be much slower than Mini (ok, a lot slower). Pity there is no inbetween for these two browsers

Pity there is no inbetween for these two browsers I believe it was said Opera mobile can also use serverside compression as is the case in the mini, you just have to turn it on. Haven't tried mobile yet, quite happy with mini as I am on a poor man's plan with limited data and they say it can save you a lot of data. It's super fast too, on 3g opera mini seemed to beat safari on iphone 3gs, me and my friend tested only one or two pages tho...
Guest IronDoc Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Turbo mode in Opera Mobile uses opera's servers.
