Guest Poodha Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Uhm, so what's the difference between Opera Mobile and Mini except for that you can switch on the Turbo on and off on the mobile version(which i don't see any point in doing since that's the best feature of Opera)? I downloaded both now, and can't see any difference in the UI, they look exactly the same. Apart from that Mini takes about 2mb of space while Mobile takes 21mb!?

Can't you read a few posts up? False information. Opera mini and opera mobile are thought as two separated browsers. Opera mini compresses (up to 90% compression) the whole site and forwards the compressed version to you. It's by far the fastest on slow networks and it uses noticeably less data, but because it does show you the compressed site, it may have some errors in rendering. This is what makes opera mini unique. Opera mobile is a "fully fledged" browser, lets rendering the whole page to the phone, just like on the PC. You have the ability to turn on Opera turbo (just like on the PC version), that will only compress images though and not the whole site.
