Guest tandeh Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Erm... How do you get a clockwork/nandroid backup of a stock recovery partition without flashing clockwork/nandroid to the recovery partition? Sounds like you're trying to lift yourself off the ground with your own boot laces :) so what's my option i have one of the first orange Uk san frans, i think 05 rom?

You could get an nandroid backup and then replace the recovery.img with stock version. Or, not worry about it, they aren't likely to check the recovery partition anyway. http://content.modaco.net/dropzone/blade-b...very-images.zip

Thanx for now and in advanced Edited December 21, 2010 by tandeh
Guest Arr Too Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Yes, but that won't get rid of clockwork on the recovery partition. Well, it will if that Stock ROM zip of Sebastian's is one that has recovery image in it. Like I said in the original post... Just open the zip you download to check first.

Assuming it doesn't, can you just take a recovery.img (from my link above) and stick in the root of the ROM?

That's what I did, and that power-on-down booted to FTM instead of clockwork
Guest Arr Too Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Assuming it doesn't, can you just take a recovery.img (from my link above) and stick in the root of the ROM? No, unless you know what you're doing, because the update script(s) will also need to be changed to actually do the flashing bit.

Guest Swimmerboy Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 so any chance of someone making a noob freindly way to flash, especially as i dont have USB access (its the reason for sending the blade back) Easiest way I did it (and how I got mine rooted and upgraded to Froyo less than 10 minutes after leaving the shop) is to: Download boot.img, recovery.img to the root of the SD card using a reader, emailing them to yourself etc. Root the phone by downloading universal root (or similar?) from the market Download a terminal emulator and carry out the following: su flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img reboot recovery This should reboot you into recovery mode, and let you use clockwork to flash a new rom, or take a backup of the old one.
Guest Arr Too Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 so any chance of someone making a noob freindly way to flash stock rom and remove clockwork I think that's the whole point of Sebastian's new setup of his ROMs with recovery images in them. I'm not going to say they are all now setup like that, and I'm not going to download them all to check (especially after the recent grief he's been getting from his provider), but if you download the specific one for your phone [most likely, the latest Orange one] then all you need to do is open the zip and see if there's a recovery.img in there. If there is, then flashing that zip using ClockworkMod will revert your phone fully to its out-of-the-box state.
Guest tandeh Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 i can already go into clockwork through the quick reboot app, but i wanted to clear up that if i used sebastian's ROM, will it get rid of clockwork and Super User,? also the method mentioned by Swimmerboy: does it get rid of clockwork through the telnet emu flash sequence?
