Hey,

Go for three.co.uk they have an all in one deal. Where you can top up £10 and get 150mb free (doesn't sound like alot), but then convert that £10 anytime you want for 100 mins + 3000 texts + 500mb + (the 150mb you had earlier)

http://www.three.co.uk/Pay_As_You_Go/Voice_Add_ons

I usually get an average of 400kbps - 600kbps, while on giffgaff / o2 I get 200kbps

Hope this helps :)

Is this PAYG or Pay Monthly?

It's pay monthly by direct debit, but IMHO the best deal going and good value.

I've just reached the end of a 3 contract, and having bought an SF with the intention of going Sim only, I've got a £10 deal of 100mins X-Net, 2000mins 3-to-3, 3000texts, and 2GB, plus the normal free Skype and MSN on a rolling 30 day contract.

Suits me.

I ordered a giffgaff sim the other day. Sounds like a good deal as previously said in this thread. :)

So long as you top up at least every three months calls and texts between giffgaffers are free. It's all described on the "Our Offer" and "Pricing" pages - http://giffgaff.com/index/offer; http://giffgaff.com/index/pricing

Here's my current giffgaff balance and status....

20101222_175401_.JPG

Note that it shows my free giffgaff to giffgaff calls expire on 20th March. Also, my balance is a healthy £22.53, which is not bad going since I've only topped up £20 in total since joining giffgaff in May. That's over 7 monhs of phone calls, texts and internet and so far I'm in profit. That beats any £10 per month SIM offer you care to name (for me at least).

Just an update. I got my GiffGaff sim today, I won't be allowed to use my SF till Xmas. I'll activate the sim now so it'll be ready, I have the MoDaCo Custom 2.1 r4 ROM and the phone is unlocked, is there anything else I need to do to make sure the sim/network is working properly?

Additional:

Turns out I have to buy a goodybag or topup to activate. Got the £10 goodybag.

OK I finally have my SF and inserted my GiffGaff SIM. At first it wouldn't work and the settings I found on the GiffGaff site didn't work either, then I found in the forum that someone made an app to fix the APN to work on GiffGaff, it's called "giffgaffAPN" you can get it from the market, it fixed my connection and now I have 3G+ working!

Best provider depends on 3G coverage where you want to use your phone for internet access.

For instance I also have a giffgaff card (which uses O2's network), which is a good deal (depending on what internet charges will be after end of Feb - currently free) , however I don't get 3G coverage at work.

Currently looking at T-Mobile, which offer 'unlimited' internet for £5 on PAYG, or 6 months for £20.

Thanks.

A bit off topic, about the payback, I've got 3 groups emails from GiffGaff (3 for each notification along the SIM ordering process) that they are sending SIMs to me even though I haven't asked, then one arrived at my house. When someone uses my SIM order link and completed the order, would I get an email saying I've ordered a SIM or someone used my link to order?

When you fist join giffagff they will send you a cheeky SIM,

this is too give to a family/friend to try and get them on board.

Thats why it's called a cheeky SIM, as it's a bit cheeky just sending it to you.

You will get emails all along the referal order proccess.

GiffGaff provide great prices, but you may have trouble getting a good signal.

I've gone for GiffGaff at the moment.

I really don't get that statement as giffgaff uses O2's network and like Vodafone it covers most of the UK perfectly

There are sections in the country where 3G coverage can be minimal like in my house 3G is very weak and I have to use 2g and I'm in Manchester, yet everywhere else apart from this one building and it's perfect

I still stay with giffgaff though as I don't know anyone else that gives you totally unlimited mobile data for £10 a month and although some people say it stops in Feb it won't the free data till Feb is for those not buying the £10 or higher "goodybag"

Edit: to answer the question above yes once someone orders using your referral link you get an email saying thanks for ordering a sim, but don't worry the sim goes to their address not yours.

Also payback is great - free money every 6 months? who could beat that? I got £20 bonus in December as well as having £60 towards my June total so far - I've only topped up £10 since I joined in October and I've still got over £15 credit on my account to top up with for free this month.

giffgaff the only phone network that pays you :D

I would go for o2 pay as you go..

top up 10 pounds and you have 500mb internet, 200 texts..and the speed is very good compare to orange..(I live in York)

another option is 3 network with 10 pounds monthly paid with no contract.. you get 100 minutes, 2000 3 to 3 mins, 1000mb internet and 2000 texts.. the speed of the internet is good too..

if you live in York..dont ever use Orange....

Was on O2 for years as I thought it was cheap. About a month ago I switched to GiffGaff and I am saving so much money.

Never had a problem with their signal, apart from on the Isle of Wight (bottom rock at bottom of UK) as they don't have 3G yet :D

I've been thinking of changing the first post.

The only problem with GiffGaff is they don't allow tethering. As you can see from my ping graph in the signature theres some problem with my internet connection (lots of red) and I'd prefer to browse the forum with a larger screen and keyboard.

i do like the cheaky sim nice idea !!

somebody mentioned the internet being charged for in the future will it not be included in there goodybag section ?? with a slight increase, saying that im at home every day or the gym which both have wifi so no issues for me

i like the setup of giffgaff - decent service and decent website / user interface just what you need

WARNING: Mobile internet is rarely unlimited.

T-Mobile have reduced their fair usage limit to 500 MB for all users last weekend. See: ZDNet UK on T-Mobile mobile broadband cap

Tesco has a 500MB limit and will charge for every additional MB. That's a real danger if you're not careful.

Don't know if it's the best but I'm happy with T-mobile at the moment

£10 per month gives me

unlimited internet

unlimited texts

£10 of calls

Whether or not that offer is still on I don't know

I also looked at Tesco which from memory at the time would have given me

unlimited internet

unlimited texts

300 mins of calls

giffgaff have a policy where the word unlimited in anything means unlimited. they had to cancel the unlimited calls package because some people were taking the piss.

Until Feb 28 it's unlimited on giffgaff but I guess it's going to change if most other providers are becoming more restrictive. If not they will get power users who use way over what can be financially viable for giffgaff.

A standard PAYG user on giffgaff gets 100Mb data usage a day until 28/2/11,

this will hopefully get extended beyond that date, as has happened twice so far.

A £10 or over Goodybag user gets unlimited data usage all the time.
