Guest KelticDaz Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Arrived today and works in my phone ;) Class 4. Just to confirm these work, same here.
Guest tomatoface Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 i can confirm that this guide from the common problems page works fine nice and simple If your just using FAT32 (no app2sd) this will be easy Right Simple - mount the current one over USB on your Computer (you can do this in Android - or in Clockwork) Copy everything off onto your computer. Unmount Swap new card into phone Remount over USB Copy everything back on i bought the sandisk 16gb sdhc and it works perfectly ;) I bought the 16GB Sandisk class 2 from play but class 4 arrived. I followed the above instructions and it worked !! :) :D I did NOT format it (although I'd be surprised if this didn't work). I had previously bought a toshiba class 4 card from 7dayshop and I could not get that working at all. Now I'm on the hunt for a working 32GB card. I am using an AMOLED phone running clockwork 2518 and running KK's JJ8 rom.
Guest Dr00g Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) try formatting from clockwork. My play.com card would not format under android but did under clockwork and works fine now SOLVED Edited January 20, 2011 by Dr00g

Guest wadgel Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) So after 4 other 16GB cards that didn't work (see previous posts) and even though I then had a working 8GB, wasn't satisfied. So I gave in and ordered a Sandisk class 2 from Play. Class 4 arrived and working fine (so far) 15GB+ copied and 3 x CMR backups completed (creating the MD5 re-reads the data so finds failing cards quickly). Edited January 20, 2011 by wadgel

Looking on Sandisk's website it appears that there is actually no difference between the class 2 cards and the class 4 cards. The class 4 cards that are shipping now are the same cards as the previous class 2 cards but because they are now meeting the spec for class 4 then they are being labelled as such.

Ah, that explains it. So at this moment in time I think we can say that all Scandisk class2 AND 4 cards that people have bought from play.com have worked. It's the safe bet.
Guest danny_s Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 +1 for working 16gb sandisk class 4 from play.com Own branded play.com (16gb class 4 didn't work) but sandisk does (using JJ7)
Guest Mike_P Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Finally got around to installing my Kingston 16GB card from MyMemory Ltd and guess what I'm getting the old 'unexpected removal' errors. It seems to format ok and the phone 'sees' it but any attempt to transfer any files or even check its contents in Root Explorer results in the error. Oh well just ordered the SanDisk 16GB from Play, fingers crossed that will work, cheap phones eh don't ya just love 'em lol.
Guest shadowninty Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 I have no 16GB card, but: I have 3 SanDisk cards: 1GB, 2GB & 4GB all work without issue I have an 8GB C08G card, "card damaged", "unexpected removal" errors  so SanDisk is the way to go?
Guest Shadey1 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) Well I've been following this for a month, I got an 8gig back then and had constant disconnects etc. was driving me mad. Decided since I've been juggling ROMS an got everything on Titanium again I might as well try 8Gig Kingston Class 4...2nd time gonna work, I hope it works, it better work. It's utterly bizarre how a 2gig installed in the phone works fine but every other card we all try (well alot of them) don't work. There has to be some issue in there. EDIT: So I've got the new one trying to mount from Clockwork after a format, no such luck. First it thought it had files on it..that were all zero bytes now it can't see the drive. This is getting irritating. Edited January 23, 2011 by Shadey1
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 same thing here 8 g sdcard class 4 patriot mount unmount  mount unmount :) wtf
Guest WinterWonderland Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 The stock 2Gb card ive got keeps coming lose or something and the phone cant see it. Pain in the arse tbh. Has any collated the info in this thread to form some sort of table of what works ?
Guest Shadey1 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) Ha, tok about 3 mins to dump the 1.5gig off my old card to the HDD and now looks like it might take hours to put it all back to the new kingston 8Gig. Wondering if these wead/write differences might be part of the issue. EDIT: Scratch that, I realised it hadn;t changed file sin a while and looked in my computer, the drive seems to have dismounted in clockwork. EDIT 2: Got it all back onto the new SD and it goes into a dismount and reboot cycle each time I try to boot up. Back to the old 2Gig... /sigh Edited January 23, 2011 by Shadey1
Guest eLJay Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) Okay after ordering a mymemory 32gb micro sd class 4 card that didn't work I have now ordered a 16gb play.com sandisk card. I've held onto the 32gb card as its still a whole lot of storage for other devices. I'll keep you posted. Edited January 24, 2011 by eLJay

The inability to be 100% sure what card is going to work is pretty much the only thing that is even remotely annoying me about the phone. If I could increase the storage so I could stick a few xvids on there for my train to and from work everyday I would be rather chuffed. As is with Titanium and Clockworks backup taking up a fair chunk of space I fnd myself with a couple of episodes and a handful of albums :/
Guest T3KO Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 So I need a new 16gb card. Any experience with one of them: Toshiba microSDHC 16GB, Class 4 (SD-C16G-J) ADATA Turbo microSDHC 16GB, Class 6 (AUSDH16GCL6-R) Kingston microSDHC 16GB Kit, Class 4 (SDC4/16GB) all about 25€

Guest nightdrive Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I had problems with the unbranded 16Gb Class4 from MyMemory.co.uk I sent it back after filling lots of technical detail in the online returns form. 2 weeks later they sent me back the same card with a note saying'fault not found'. This is appalling customer service and insulting to me. The amount of detail I included could have helped them, perhaps by putting a big notice on that page of their website saying "Not Compatible with Orange San Francisco" (possibly not compatible with Android). Anyway I've sent it back a second time with the extensive notes printed off, and a very strongly worded note NOT to return the card. I since ordered a Kingston 16Gb Class4 from Amazon (Indigo Starfish) for any £2 more, and it works perfectly Mine came from the same place. I'll report back on how they dealt with the return. How did you manage with your own ? I ought to add that there are no driver issues either. On my own PC I'm using the latest ones from the SDK and on the other we're using the latest ones from ZTE.
Guest wolverine73 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) I've had a 16GB Kingston class 4 sdhc on the Blade for over a month now - it is working fine with no problems at all  Edited January 25, 2011 by wolverine73
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 i'm quite sure it's not a hardware problem because cards work perfectly in clockwork i even have flashed a rom with a faulty card without problem another thing i have tested this bug affect only the fat part of the card ext part is oki (md5 sums prove it) stoopid fat why use this peace of sh... in linux kernel anyway ? problems begin when you boot the phone i guess it's a time out settings to set somewhere in a system file to be continued.........

Yeah but the three cards I tried before getting the Sandisk one would not work in Clockwork and would not work when formatted with ext. I couldn't even get the phone to recognise that an SD card had been inserted. It is only the Sandisk card that has worked flawlessly.
