Guest kallt_kaffe Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 AGPS seemed to work well for me in release 7 when I took a flight. I got an almost instant lock in my new location, which would not have happened without it. I'd vote to put it back. I just made it disable by default, instead of enabled by default. You can still enter the Location & Security settings and enable it.
Guest feckineejit Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Yep - having issues with wifi tethering. It did a semi reboot and then had problems turning tethering on. Wierd Running: RLS 8 Circle batt + Desk clock 0x90 mod I have similar setting to this as well on jjRLS 8, i also have another sf with jjRLS7 on it and it has the same problem.
Guest chin-chin Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Ηι all, Tried searching but could not find anything so I'm not really sure if it was mentioned again and (hopefully) resolved. I am using the phone to talk a lot, so I prefer doing it with the handsfree. However, the ring comes only through the headphones (not the phone speaker) so I'm missing a lot of calls and I keep plugging and unplugging the handsfree, which is definitely not good for the socket! Plus, when I try to answer the call with the handsfree's button, the call is answered and terminated instantly. Both of these problems were not present and worked as they should with the phone's stock rom (2.1 from Wind - Greece). I could go back to that but I like froyo's ability to install apps to SD and hwui for the games! I installed the Hungarian thing to "release" the hidden 256MB of ram, then installed RLS6 with hwui addon, wiped data/cache, used for a couple of days then on top of that I installed RLS7 with hwui addon, without wiping. Sorry if it was mentioned again and it slipped me, thanks for the nice work! Alex
Guest logigamer Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 ROM is very good, fast, good looking ;) now i'm waiting for new RLS9 and no connection cannot be made massage :)
Guest vt750c2 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I've found a language problem withe the word for "birthday" in contacts while using german language. It's called "Fodselsdag" (with a line trough the 'o') but should be "Geburtstag". Is there a file where I can change this? (Experienced in RLS 5 and 6, 7 and 8 not yet testet) Thankx! And keep up your amazing work on this ROM!!! Vt750c2
Guest cartierv Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 more on 7: as others have said charge light is green. Not a big deal charging seems to be slightly warm with usb now. before phone only got warm with mains charging alarm: seems to not let you change ringtone anymore. It's just on Rooster overall everything largely seems ok. calls, 3g, wifi, bluetooth Tethering in 2.2 is great. No more barnacle nonsense.
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 more on 7: as others have said charge light is green. Not a big deal For some reason charge light is green and goes off when fully charged instead of the old red -> green. The /sys/class/leds works correctly if you mess with them manually so I guess there might be something built into Android itself. Maybe the Chinese/Japanese blades doesn't have a red led so that they've changed the way it works? alarm: seems to not let you change ringtone anymore. It's just on Rooster that is just when you change the Alarm volume in the "main" settings. In the Alarm clock app you can change alarm sound and volume.
Guest rbbrslmn Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 sterling stuff as ever, thanks man
Guest cartierv Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Talk was on the orange rom but it was hidden and not as a usable app. It loaded up in start up and when I tried to disable it in autostarts it warned me that doing so would probably break the Market. thanks for the info. interesting
Guest tnat Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) I want to say, that i love the work of kk and this resulting rom. I went from R6 to R8 the last few days and am now happy with the default contacts-app. Thanks and counitune your great work KK! Tom ps. one really little thing is the turning off wifi, when screen goes of. That happens whatever i set as wifi sleep policy. Edited January 19, 2011 by tnat
Guest islandofshame Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 excellent rom, i'm sure i speak for everyone when saying that your work is much appreciate kallt_kaffe upgraded from Flibblesans r3 lastnight to JJRL8 and was pleasantly surprised to see that the backlights on my buttons were working, woohoo! ;) however, they now appear to have stopped working. I have installed several applications and also applied the gingerbread theme for RSL7 (thought possibly a bad idea, but posts suggest it should be fine), could this have had an impact? I have also experienced on two occasions now that my phone refused to go to sleep, dims the screen brightness but screen remains on - I've found that I need to restart my phone to resolve the problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue? cheers guys - island :)
Guest _amano Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) @KK: What issues are left that could be ironed out or things that could be enabled in the kernel (IPv6 privacy extensions?, RDS radio?)? Will there be a RSL 9? Big thanks for sharing your efforts with the community. Edited January 19, 2011 by _amano
Guest LordKickapoo Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) I have some problems with apps...when i started them it just shows black screen, but it could be because of titanium backup also. never mind, it seems to be only one app Edited January 19, 2011 by LordKickapoo
Guest eloydark Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Hello kaffe, Great work, I am really greatful for all your efforts to build and support this great rom. I believe I have found a bug, or a feature missing if you like. In the "android keyboard" there is no greek language. So if someone wants to type greek letters, he has to use HTC IME. That's not the issue however. For those using Handcent SMS, it automatically converts SMS written in greek to capitals accordingly to fit the 160 letters limit. The letter χ in capitals Χ is not correctly encoded. It sents a letter that looks like Χ but is not recognised in handcent and then the sms becomes limited to 70 letters. So, to make a long story short, I believe this is a bug in the HTC IME keyboard included in the rom (v.27). On the other hand, with the apk that is distributed in here I have never had this issue! As a work around I have disabled auto capitalization in HTC IME settings, and left the capitalization be done by handcent only. This correctly converts the greek χ to the greek Χ and keeps the sms limit set to 160. What solution would you propose for that? Is there a simple workaround or should I replace the apk in your rom with the one given here and reflash? Thanks in advance!

I like Rooster.
Guest cartierv Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Works like a charm when sending from my macbook. Just had to pair it again after flashing rls8. But I still have the same problem, as I've had with the stock rom, the phone will not send to the mac. I think this has more to do with the mac than the phone, it can be a bit finicky at times… And thank you for this fabulous rom. It works like a charm with my saunalahti phone! confirmed. Can't send a file to Mac with bluetooth. I just upgraded about a week ago to latest Snow Leopard from Tiger. I see they have changed some of the settings in the Bluetooth pane. But people are suggesting this is a custom ROM issue ?

Guest jaypatel Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Just been wondering whether to go back to JJ ROM from FLBs r6, i went to FLBs because Jellyfish was eating battery up soooo quickly. Just wondering whether this rls8 has fixed the battery problem. how does it compare to FLBs r6? Thanks Kallt_Kaffe for all your work ;)
Guest PeterDreher Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 now i'm waiting for new RLS9 and no connection cannot be made massage ;) Just don't use apndroid. Use like SwitchPro to turn of 3G!
Guest Seagull81 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I'm a little confused, can this release be used without and Ext partition?
Guest mazaisti Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 That is a known issue. Bluetooth file transfer works from other mobiles while transfer from the computer doesn't work. I think that this is an issue with all those custom roms. Might have something to do with mac or setup. BT transfer works nicely for me, both directions Win 7, JJ RL8
Guest agpoli Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I'm a little confused, can this release be used without and Ext partition? Yes, of course!
Guest los_alamos_boy Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 confirmed. Can't send a file to Mac with bluetooth. I just upgraded about a week ago to latest Snow Leopard from Tiger. I see they have changed some of the settings in the Bluetooth pane. But people are suggesting this is a custom ROM issue ? Well I had the same issue with the stock rom. I think it's an apple issue, since with PC it's working…
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 On RLS8 charging LED continues to be green all the time ;) I've been doing some .smali detective work again I think I might be able to "fix" the charging LED. It's actually working exactly like ZTE has set it up to work in the 2.2 ROM so it's not really broken, just configured to work differently.
