Guest Kyanon Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) I've been doing some .smali detective work again I think I might be able to "fix" the charging LED. It's actually working exactly like ZTE has set it up to work in the 2.2 ROM so it's not really broken, just configured to work differently. forget what i said.... i´m an idiot.... Maybe the Chinese/Japanese hardware only has one led colour to show?
Guest _amano Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) caharging LED? could you help me in any way KK ? there is absolutely no LED flashing while charging for me, any idea why? The green (it looks rather white to me) is hard to see in good light conditions. Try it in a dark room and it should be clearly visible. The other option is to wait for RSL9 that KK is obviously preparing ;) He seems to be toying with the LED stuff anyway. Edited January 19, 2011 by _amano
Guest IronDoc Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 @KK: What issues are left that could be ironed out or things that could be enabled in the kernel (IPv6 privacy extensions?, RDS radio?)? Will there be a RSL 9? Big thanks for sharing your efforts with the community. Big one for me is making notifications/alarms come out of speaker. I haven't had time to test other ROMs and see if it's common to any of them, will do so next week.
Guest logigamer Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Just don't use apndroid. Use like SwitchPro to turn of 3G! i bought it, and there is no one button for turn on/off, only pointer to android 3g menu
Guest jaypatel Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Hey Guys, how does the battery life on this RSL8 compare to previous versions and FLBs r6?
Guest thechosen Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) Hi, thanks for the good work, but i'm goin crazy cause the facebook sync wont work for me. I can see all my facebook contacts but its not joining the gmail contact with the same name. Even there is no "join" button in the contact edit. Guest bhf Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Hey Guys, how does the battery life on this RSL8 compare to previous versions and FLBs r6? Well, my phone is on for 11 hours, with HSDPA, mail push and is now at 87% left on battery. So, compared to stock rom and JJ7 pretty good. I don't have any empiric data on FLB ROMs though.

Guest LordKickapoo Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I changed yesterday to JJRLS7, with 100% battery and at the moment im at 49%. Since then i have updated to RLS8 installed bunch of apps, used some wifi and edge ( im on 2g). also watched about 20min of videos. So i would say that the battery life on these two roms is pretty good.
Guest bhf Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) Do you use Hardware acceleration or overclocking? nope, none of the above. Only addon I use is the circle battery. The linpack mflops test only slightly improves from 7250 up to 7299. I'm highly pleased with this ROM. Wifi, 3G, GPS works all flawlessly. Edited January 19, 2011 by bhf
Guest patroll1994 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Hi does somone know when i download the soft for fastboot version, and some smaller applications like overcloaking and hw acceleration, do you have to unzip the soft and those 2 zips and replace all those files with overcloaking and acceleration and zip it back together? Cheers ;)

I can see all my facebook contacts but its not joining the gmail contact with the same name. Even there is no "join" button in the contact edit. I hope this is fixed! -so long I've spent a lot of time trying to get this to work. Managed to enable the add, delete and join buttons and managed to get add and delete to work but I didn't manage to get the join button to work so I removed it again. Might give it another try later.
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Here's a services.jar to be put in /system/framework. Will take a long time on first boot as it has to rebuild the dalvik-cache but once it is done the charging LED should the same as in 2.1 (red for low, orange for medium and green for full). Have not been able to test it at all levels yet.services.zip
Guest Seagull81 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I've just installed this rom but have a couple of issues:- When I restart the phone or don't have an internet connection (either wifi or mobile), I often see an error message "Connection cannot be made". Does anyone know what's causing this? I've reinstalled the apps that I backed up before flashing this rom, but the Market doesn't show them as installed. I used MyBackupPro as Titanium wouldn't work before.

Guest elastico Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 A day after flashing the RLS8 rom every time I try to wtite a SMS the ”com.android.mms” crashes. I had this problem before and the only way to solve it was to do a wipe and then to flash the RLS8 rom once more. Is there a easier way to restore the sms app?
Guest Salsaholic Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 A day after flashing the RLS8 rom every time I try to wtite a SMS the ”com.android.mms” crashes. I read about similar issues when restoring a 2.1 backup into a 2.2 system. In these cases, just deleting the data of that specific app seemed to have helped. Maybe worth a try?

Have not been able to test it at all levels yet. Same as which 2.1 ? ;) No idea what the original source might have given, but UK Orange stock behaviour IIRC was while switched off: red when charging, goes green at 100% (and perhaps resets some battery statistic) while switched on: red when charging, but goes green at 90% (and continues charging to 100%, keeps showing green) -- Note: this is different to the behaviour described in the Orange manual! I haven't had time to test other ROMs and see if it's common to any of them, will do so next week. Hmm. Wasn't there a ROM that managed to unlock the VGA option within the Camcorder app? That could be a cadidate for future revisions as well. Currently everything is locked to CIF. nope. select "custom" at the bottom point and VGA is available.
Guest jurrasstoil Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) - double post - whatever, not wanna waste the space: please could you look into the support of SFs with LEAD tft displays? would be awesome ;) Edited January 19, 2011 by jurrasstoil

I have also tried to first remove the sms app with Titanium backup and then reinstall the mms.apk but that didn’t help either. As soon as I installed the mms.apk a notification appeared that “com.android.mms” had crashed.

Guest Cloudmaster Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I get used to the 2.2 keyboard, but in RLS 8 are only HTC IME and the new gingerbread keyboard. Any chance to get there the old 2.2 keyboard?
