Guest targetbsp Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I haven't used 8 so I can't use that as a comparison but it's much more reliable than Modaco r11 at wifi reconnecting. In fact, rls 9 has reconnected everytime flawlessly since I've put it on.
Guest Len Ash Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 im running rls8 because i cant be bothered to upgrade, anyway, the wifi doesnt auto connect everytime on that rom is it fixed in rls9? cuz i thought it was sorted :s WiFi perfect in JJ9 - TF
Guest MrMooo Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Fantastic work, many thanks love many of the new features The hardware acceleration really does kill the battery though, you can just watch the battery go down. I would suggest you make the warning a bit clearer on the first post if that's possible. Thanks, M
Guest Smiff2 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) to be clear, the hardware accell makes a big difference to games like Angry Birds? or not? i believe you can remove the addon zips by simply reflashing the main zip (no wipes) maybe i was wrong about the cell signal strength indicator, it seems to work. but it may be overestimating sometimes. not sure! edited that out of my last post until i've figured it out. is there a numeric signal indicator anywhere? also i have had no "connection could not be made" type errors today, i think removing a news widget may have taken care of that. Guest targetbsp Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Hardware Accel affects some games but Angry Birds isn't one of them. It's absolutely required for Leave Devil Alone. It's fantastic with it and unplayable without. It doesn't noticeably affect my battery.
Guest 90180360 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Sorry if it has already been answered, but is it possible to do a TPT install but keep the original partition sizes? Would it be possible to use the image to go back to standard partition sizes, but replace the image files with those from JJ?
Guest Salsaholic Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Was there any change re WIFI since RLS6? The release notes don't show anything obvious... On my RLS6 it often takes ages until it reconnects to my WIFI network, SSID not being hidden here (not of any value to hide it anyway). When I go to the WIFI setting it starts reconnecting immediately. If RLS9 is really any better here, this might be worth trying... else, I'll probably have to wait or KK's ROM based on the expected Swedish 2.2 Release... (or try the de-crossed...)
Guest PeterDreher Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I flashed Japanese_Jellyfish_RLS9_smartdialer_addon.zip and Japanese_Jellyfish_RLS9_group_contacts.zip via Clockwork and now i get a android.process.acore error and can't open my contacts any more. Is it possible to get back to the original RLS9? Go into Settings > Apps > and wipe the data of the 2 or 3 Contact Processes you can find. Will be fine after that.
Guest Bob@Desire Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Thanks PeterDreher I will try that later today.

Guest taannuk Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Go into Settings > Apps > and wipe the data of the 2 or 3 Contact Processes you can find. Will be fine after that. Why is the Smart Dialer better or how different is it from the installed Dialer, please?
Guest ivanko021 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) SmartDialer shows info about recent calls so you can choose who to call directly from the dialer. Also when you type a number it shows possible contacts you may want to call. Thei is the standart dialer for the OSF 2.1 rom. People I still can't play Gameloft games! I reflashed the rom and installed Gangstar: Miami Vindication first and reasonably got an error message "the video cannot be played". Then I used root explorer to set VM Heap to 32m and stagefright to 'true' (stagefright http remains false) and the problem persists! I just can't see where is my mistake and why these settings work with Seb's de-softened rom. Please help! Edited February 1, 2011 by ivanko021

Guest wbaw Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 *****FIX - dialer partially awaking issue***** NOTE: FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY! Think I've found a fix for the "dialer partially awakes" problem on JJ, which is considered to cause battery drain and is the only issue that's stopping JJ from being branded "perfect". The fix was found by trail-and-error, but worked fine for most of the day now. I first replaced framework.jar with the one found in r0.1 de-crossed, tested everything but only to find Browser force-closes, so replaced Browser.apk as well. Everything seems to work flawlessly afterwards. Please find the fix attached, flash as usual. @KK, this is not a neat fix by any means, replacing framework.jar sounds a rather major operation, but it might shine some light towards a neater solution. Thanks, I took framework.jar & browser.apk from r0.2 de-crossed. It's totally solved the long partial wake caused by 'dialer', battery life seems to be improved.
Guest miasma Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 It is fixed in 2.2.1 but we have no way of getting a 2.2.1 ROM. The froyo releases we're working off are 2.2 if I understand correctly. Same RIL issue as everything else applies to compiling one. So we're stuck (in relative terms) with 2.2 for now. I can see that. I was just thinking a bit optimistically that you could use the official 2.2 -> 2.2.1 diff to patch the zte blade version of 2.2. Maybe it's a lot of work.
Guest 1immortal Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 i'm getting connection cannot be made every time that i boot the last version. what connection ?
Guest stanno Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 +1 +1 - and it's getting worse as the days go on. Also, there is strange GPS behaviour. Although it shows as being ON, apps can't access it properly so connection is slow and drops out frequently. Didn't have this problem on previous ROMs.
Guest Palder Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 With 177 pages, its quite difficult to pick out the specific info you want, so my apologies for what might seem like laziness.... Can anyone summarise the problems with JJ RLS9? I run RLS7 and wanted to update but it is just not clear if it is worthwhile yet? Thanks.
Guest 1immortal Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 i'm getting connection cannot be made every time that i boot the last version. what connection ? and one more thing, there's no headphones indication with this rom ? i've tried 3 different headsets, did not get the headphones icon in all cases.

[...] If RLS9 is really any better here, this might be worth trying... else, I'll probably have to wait or KK's ROM based on the expected Swedish 2.2 Release... (or try the de-crossed...) Sebs de-crossed needs the blade wifi fix, because the reconnection was very poor. It tooks literally minutes. With blade wifi fix, the phone reconnects in max 15 seconds, every time. Big improvement.

Guest Smiff2 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) Can anyone summarise the problems with JJ RLS9? Here's my list which i'm updating as i spot things in this thead: Serious or not user fixable or not understood issues: - wifi reconnection problems still for some users - some "connection could not be made" errors when waking - camera control exposure not working - dialler causing wakes, reducing battery runtime (runtime overall still good for many users) minor/user work-around-able issues - no included way to copy paste txt from txt files e.g. network key (please include a text editor in next package!) - virtual provider name not shown e.g. GiffGaff not 02 (only cosmetic i think) - 2 radio apps included, only one needed or works? NOT JJ issues: - no headphone icon? caused by 0x90 mod apparently anyone has others please reply or edit if you can. Edited February 1, 2011 by Smiff2
Guest cooldfuzion Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Will the dev. continue the developing of this rom??
