Guest Cronnix Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Flashed this ROM, and benchmark shows 430.. That seems to be really low for 2.2, any ideas why? I think I saw a screen of Jellyfish release with 1.1k in benchmark, thou it seems to be gone now. Edited January 8, 2011 by Cronnix
Guest Swift_gti Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Now that a new kernel is in use is the lockscreen not responding problem fixed? I put rls4 on my wife's blade and she loves it but keeps getting the lockscreen problem (5 times in 1 day) so it would be great to know if rls5 fixes this or if I should put her back on eclair for the mean time

Those high scores in Quadrant is because of Stagefright that doesnt work as it should, resulting in Quadrant giving these high scores.
Guest dadashi Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) another couple of probs with RLS5 1- screen doesn't time out!! It's been on for ages even though I set it for 2 minutes. Also it was on all night when it was charging!!! 2- My favourite file manager ESExplorer won't work...."Sd Card unmounted or not present"....the system sees the sd card and astro as well..... 3-Battery is still going down in a blink of an eye. From 100% to 88% in just 15 minutes... 4- Camera app screen has black lines running thru from top to bottom!!!! Edited January 8, 2011 by dadashi

Guest tdodd Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 For the first time since i bought my Blade it had run out of battery this morning. Pre RLS4Lite w. new Kernel it shouldn't have. There is def. something chuggin down the juice. Oh and it is charging now. Red led when i put the charging cable in. Now the led switched to green and i thought , that was quick. Check it , and it is at 7%?? Green at 7%. Wow. I'm running JJ5 without overclocking and it's been 14 hours since the phone came off charge. Since much of that time was overnight the phone got little use, but when I got up it was down to 95%. I've been dabbling for about 40 minutes to an hour this morning and I'm now down to 80%. It's hard to day how that compares with stock B05 because I don't have a typical usage pattern. Gut feel is the battery is depleting a little quicker than it used to. Normally if I go to bed with the battery at 100% it will still show 100% in the morning. To be honest I'm not clear on what advantages I'm supposed to be seeing with the new ROM compared to stock. I can't say I've noticed improved speed. Certainly the BBC home page is just as reluctant to complete as before and I've not noticed other parts of the phone to be any snappier. Indeed, I never had any complaints about speed on the stock ROM for my needs. There is also the minor issue of giffgaff network being reported as O2, no ability to edit the supplied giffgaff APN and the missing signal level information in phone status. While I appreciate the skill and effort in putting these ROMs together, so far I'm not seeing any material benefit in the change. Am I blind? Stupid? What am I missing? EDIT : I just got a total system freeze on unlocking the phone. I've never had that experience before today on any ROM. I'm afraid going back to my stock B05 ROM, but I'll continue to watch how things progress with Froyo. Good luck. :D
Guest teemz Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 The touchscreen problem with previous Froyo roms using the beta kernel is now gone! Previously it hang immediately and now has been working fine today. This RLS5 seems to be working very nice, now also the compass is working correctly. Battery usage remains to be seen, but so far this is looking very good for Saulahti Blade with 5mpix camera. Thank you KK&ZTE for working Froyo!

Guest tdodd Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) more probs: -- GPS can't get a fix under an open sky after 10 minutes!! -- the compass is way off, shows south as east and west as south!! I can get a fix indoors on JJ5 and B05 fairly quickly. I can get a hot lock in seconds. A cold lock may take a minute or so, but that's still indoors. Try running the GPS Status app to accelerate locking and to see what is going on. One improvement with JJ5 over B05 is that you can now do the two fingered map swivel if you should be so inclined. I tried it and just ended up thinking it looked weird. It was very odd to see Milton Keynes positioned to the right of Essex. I doubt it's I feature I would wish to use. I can't comment on compass accuracy, and having reverted to B05 I won't be able to. Oh, just a thought - you do have the phone (compass) well away from steel and magnetic influences such as speakers, power supplies etc....? Try using it in clear air rather than next to your PC/TV etc.. Edited January 8, 2011 by tdodd

Seems rebooting is the best medicine for this rom... Compass is still playing up though... A plus in this rom, my signal strength is 100% indoors. It was never more than 30 or 40% at home before. Could be just eye candy awith the same strength as before though, I'll keep testing... Edited January 8, 2011 by dadashi

Guest Andr0ider Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Battery is down to 83% in 30 minutes Mobile data when enabled (especially 3G) consumes a lot of power. Do you have it enabled?

Could be just eye candy awith the same strength as before though, I'll keep testing... Thats because the signal strength bars are not accurate in this rom for some reason. The only issues i have with this rom are the signal strength being full bars all the time apart from when i have no signal at all, and the battery charging led is always green even if i plug the charger in with less than 10% battery it comes on green and stays green.
Guest ropin Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 is it worth installing RLS5 does it make a big difference in speed when overclocking?

Guest cloveky Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Hi, I have a problem with the Gallery3D.apk, I don't know why the cache of Gallery3D.apk will auto created in rom memory but not in the sd card, is there any method to make the Gallery3D.apk create the cache in sd card? THX!

It's fake, it shows 4 bars or none, had this in Seb's Froyo r.02 with the old kernel too. Mobile data when enabled (especially 3G) consumes a lot of power. Do you have it enabled? No way mate! I have mobile data and 3G all the time enabled (with 2 E-Mail accouns, Yahoo Messenger and PKT Auctions eBay always on) and I don't get in standby more than 1% discharge an hour (on Seb's Froyo with new kernel) Edited January 8, 2011 by Rotmann
Guest gambieter Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 This still does not change anything on the fact that it's not recommended. You overwrite 2.2 system apps with 2.1 system apps (mail, camera, youtube etc. are newer better versions), how do you expect it to work? You will have to read better: the app is not overwritten, only the data are put back (accounts, emails etc). Your responses seem to be based on the misconception that the application is replaced.
Guest dadashi Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 My battery is going down fast, my battery usage: - Cell Standby 47% - Phone Idle 36% - Display 12% - Android system 4%

Had that a few times. Or just flash the ROM again without wipe. @dadashi that's odd, I think there's something just wrong with the kernel or with the ROM. If you have nothing to do try Seb's Froyo and flash his newest kernel, see if you report the high battery usage again. Edited January 8, 2011 by Rotmann

Guest evilfury Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 My blade constantly lose signal for service, where friends nokia has full signal, my has none. Is this rom related problem?

I second this, my phone was a disaster area after restoring system data from 2.1 - even though I only did the supposedly safe green ones. I had to wipe the data area again and only restored the userapps and data and it was perfect. Edited January 8, 2011 by targetbsp
