Clockwork Recovery Question

hi all,

so a while back i flashed the correct recovery (309) for the 318 & no dramas with 318 installation

but i wanted to go back to the clockw recovery & try smokus tweaks for 318

so i flashed clockw (2.5.0.1 or something like this)

booted into clockw

went to browse for .zip to install from sd

it can't find ANY zip (there's 3 on there)

re-started fone & booted into clockw - only this time clockw had disapeared & recovery had returned to the 309 version i flashed to install 318 !!

re-flashed clockw

& again although it'll list the contents of my sd card, it wont show any zip files at all....

decided to give up & not risk borking fone ;)

WTF?

anyone?

===============

as all i really wanna do is install Steve's kernel on 318, can i just do this with adb?

would the command be =

adb push modules /system/lib/

or do i need to push each of the 3 kernel files individually?

adb push dhd.ko /system/lib/modules/

if i go the above route, will i also need to push the busybox from smokus tweaks as well?

===============

sorry for that long post (although it helped me list what had happened :()

but in summary

1 - my clockw, no zip files are viewable = wtf?

2 - can i install new kernel via adb & have i listed the correct adb commands to do this?

[or perhaps 3 fcuk all this shjt n just use root expl to copy paste the .ko/bbox files you want?]

thanks guys

To answer my own question....

Clockw reverts to std recovery on oem builds, no?

The zip file thing, f knows will try a diff recovery tool, I might just pop onto irc later and ask how to adb push the kernel as that'd all I wanna do

I had similar problem - flashed cwm and it launched only after first reboot.

Then had to reflash it to be able to flash zips.

I saw somewhere that stock froyo has some script to wipe other recoveries (or something like that).

But...after 3 flash, it finally worked and clockwork was there to stay - it launched with every reboot.

not sure it helps you, though.
