Guest Fi5h Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Yeah - I bought 2 apps that were £1.30 each and NatWest charged me about £1.50 per transaction. I'm glad I spotted it before I bought more.
Guest targetbsp Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 which card is it you have, i would be interested in getting one http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/cont...ediaId=34100665
Guest lpinho Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 It is everything to do with google, for not charging people in their native currency. The currency used, is the developers currency, otherwise it would be like apple, you have to accept the currency they set, not the real currency of the market. I think there are arguments in favor and against and it depend on the time you buy it (if your currency if in good shape or not), but I think that in this case the transaction fees are just too much, I don't have that problem with any of my banks
Guest bigwall1 Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 whenever i buy any application an android market, it takes me to the google checkout. when I check my bank statements it always charge me extra £1.99 per transaction. Is there any other method of payement or method of purchasing. I have tried to search the forum and google it as well. I could not find any other way. im glad i found this post, ive been e-mailing google and the company that the app came from, and they gave me some lame excuse that they havent charged me too much its just somethong to do with the requasts to check if you have anough funds in your account...i knew they were talking crap because the money has gone and ive payed nearly 3 times as much as the app..£1.29 it should have been and ive been charged over 3 quid...it looks like google dont know what they are talking about and the bank dosent either i bet i find out it is to do with beig charged for overseas payment as mentioned in this post.. tjhing is im new to android and i will never ever buy an app again,so they are hurtingh themselves or the banks are... cheers cliff
Guest oe79 Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Thanks neologan. I can't believe they are still getting away with this. I would have thought it would have become a bigger story. There should be a campaign to end it. Does anyone know if Apple does this with the iPhone?
Guest targetbsp Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) It's not a big story because the issue lies with the UK banks. And they're always a big story for ripping customers off with charges anyway. :( I'm talking about percentage charges here. People who have overpaid by a £1 or more either have a really bad bank or something else going on. Also note that as said above, it's normal for stores to reserve an amount on a card (usually a £1 I think) for an order they are not going to immediately process to check the card (maybe because of the refunds period they allow?). Whether this shows on an online statement and is later removed, or is never shown, or is shown as pending, depends on your bank. Such a thing will generally affect your available credit but shouldn't affect your balance. Edited December 30, 2010 by targetbsp
