can I use headphones with mic for making calls?

it seems as if the headphone jack was designed for two separate cables- one for talking and one for listening. for the O2, is their a method or a mod that I can do to make something like an iphone headset to make calls? this would be far more convent for me.

any help is appreciated!

The O2 have a 3,5 jack with 2 headphones and 1 mic total when you hold the plug 4

in the same hole you can put what ever headfones you like only need a 3,5 plug

in the same hole you can also connect a TV OUT cable the choice is up 2U only need a original cable and a multimeter to see what is where
