That shouldn't matter: those files ought to be readable by every user (and probably not writable by anyone!).

not that much a difference after playing around with both of them

what...? did you actually drop it into a big mug of coffee?

I can't see how a little spill over the SF would break it permanently? I've already had some spills on mine which I wiped clean...

To be absolutely sure which screen type you have:

Dial *983*24474636# in the dialer.

(refer to “Glass” to determine which screen category your phone falls under)

OLED

LCD Information:

IC: TL2796

Glass: Samsung

TFT/LCD

IC: NT35580

Glass: LEAD OR

Glass: TRULY

So to conclude if you have Glass:Samsung then it is OLED (No ifs and buts)

I have been very lucky here ... the one I got from Orange shop in early Dec was Oled,

then I bought another from them for my wife in late Dec ... sadly this one was TFT,

BUT

it also had very poor reception (bad antenna) and Orange kindly replaced it Jan 29th ... with a brand new/boxed Oled !!

so they do still have some stock around

DONE. WORKS FINE. MINE IS SADLY A TFT.

Hi all,

I'm totally new to android and the SanFran.

Just bought one and I'm checking everything out before trying a new ROM.

My first question is: is my SF OLED or TFT?

- if I check my build number I get: OCH_P29BV1.0.0B05 (which should mean it's OLED, right?)

- if I dial *983*24474636# under "LCD information" I get "Glass: LEAD"

The guy who sold me the phone said it's OLED

So what?

The phone comes from switzerland and it has OCH instead of OUK in the build number, does this mean that I should not trust the rest of the code?

Stupid question:

in the list I get by dialling that number I get this info, at the bottom:

Flash information: SAMSUNG 4G NAND

what does that mean?

Thanks a lot!

SAMSUNG = OLED (All Samsung glasses are OLED)

LEAD = TFT LCD

TRULY = TFT LCD

LEAD and TRULY are TFT LCD. Only Samsung is OLED

i get the same error although it used to work when i was on seb's 2.1 roms in the early days but currenly on flb r9/10 and the codes just dont work

it may be something to do with the types of dialler used in the rom?

I got a TFT one recently after having had an OLED one since December and I'm honestly annoyed at the difference in screen quality.

It's really noticeable. The TFT's red/orange/pink reproduction is even worse than my 2006 LG Viewty I still have lying around! Wayy too incandescent for my liking and kind of painful to look at for long periods of time.

For those who've only had a TFT model, you don't know what you're missing!

And I now realise how good a value handset the Blade was last year! Glad I jumped on and got one of them early.

Hi, I recently get one ZTE Blade from Polish telecom Play. It says:

LCD Information:

IC:HX8369

Glass: TRULY

Resolution:480*800

I assume mine is TFT. Phone is GEN1 with Android 2.1 but seems they have different IC for display now.

Hello, I just bought a Orange San Francisco phone and I want to put an Android 2.3 on it. Reading your post I got confused because ChiperTest says that I have:

LCD Information:

IC: HX8369

Glass: TRULY

(if I understood correctly it is a Gen2 with TFT display)

BUT

MrPigfish says that I have a Gen1 model...

PLEASE help me to find out wich info is correct so I could flash my phone withot broke it

Quick question, does the msm_lcd = 40 mean it's OLED? I've just bought a second hand one with a custom rom, so not sure.. :|

Actually, nevermind I got it sorted. I was on Swedish Spring 4b and the CHIPINFO code never worked... but on installing the ZTE dialler after, it did and it said it was a SAMSUNG screen from there :)

Good thread this for people that now buy second hand ones (giving my mint condition TFT one to my sis-in-law as I'm nice).
