Sky fire is no help, it doesn't open flash sites without a flash plugin....

I'm looking for a similar FlashLite solution to activate flash in the browser...

My SF using modaco 2.1 with Flashlite has no problem with Flash, opens every flash-website and can even play flash directly from the youtube website...

Android has very very poor browser plug in support, even good old symbion took plug-ins seriously enough to release regular updates....

to think symbion supported flash, rma, mov and other plugins years ago and android developers don't give a monkey's....android doesn't even support half the written languages ....

but symbain sucks! ;)

IMO this is crap on Googles part... what were they thinking

That's a shame.

i watch a lot of sport streams that are in Flash. It appears that my best option is to stick with 2.1 Eclair and get Flashlite - is that correct?

If they work with flash lite yes, that's maybe the best option. Or you can try Skyfire with Froyo to see if they work reliable.

Before Oh Dougal get's in first ;) if you had used the search function you would have found that the OSF is NOT Flash compatible. If you have 2.1 you could try Flash Lite but that is about it I'm afraid.

(Cool I get to be a "Wannabee Mod") :)

Adobe flash player isn't supported on the ARM6 processors (The one the blade has)

So.. Chances are we'll never get it

You can install flash lite, if you want to jump through hoops and get a disappointing result ;)

now thats a pity first time disappointed from the phone ;/

Flash lite only works on 2.1 roms so if you upgrade to 2.2 it wont work.

There does seem to be an assumption that running Android 2.2 means that there is Flash support on the phone. This messes up the (mobile) YouTube and other sites on the Blade [don't invoke the native player properly]. It would seem like the browser needs to pretend it's actually running 2.1!

The thing that many people dont know is that the youtube app on the iPhone/iPad and San Francisco are using HTML5 which is seen as alternative to Adobe Flash.

Android should just copy Apple again.

Ban flash for the frigging monstrosity it is

But seriously the stock browser is slow with modern bloated websites which are just designed like garbage. Phone just can't handle zillions of nested <divs>, newer HTML, javascript, css, ajax blah. massive flashing banner ads and what not. How's it going to handle a bucket of Flash stuff on top ?

And sites are not designing properly for mobiles. Take Yahoo and the BBC for instance. Those are not mobile sites. They just the regular site basically and far too slow for mobile use. Forums and sites with heavy CMS are the worst offenders.

Interesting my own website which kind of old fashioned HTML... lots of TABLES to make a complex page, loads really fast on the Blade and zooming is great.

Why we can't we just write some plug in that allows youtube and similar style vids and fakes that flash is working.

Having said all that. good luck to all in getting flash working if that's what you want

Hi Guys.

I have installed froyo on my san francisco and everything is fine (except the usual wi-fi) and wondered if I can install Adobe flash player on it. I have tried doing it through sd card/ Astro and at first it said it was installed but it never worked, then tried another 2 but neither of them will install. Do i keep trying or will it just not happen.

Thanks.
