Guest Meizirkki Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) How did you ever successfully flash the kernel from the Japanise leak btw? I always get the "Out of space"-error Edited January 3, 2011 by Meizirkki
Guest jt_mcg Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Hm I wonder if the Hungarian TPT can be modified in that way I wondered about that in the Partitioning thread, but I don't know nearly enough to even hint if it's feasible.
Guest hecatae Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 first Chinese dump kernel has a base address of 0x02a00000 and the second Chinese dump has 0x02600000 same as the Japanese kernel. japanese and 2nd chinese kernel are smaller than first chinese kernel by 0x00500000, would you need to alter the partition layout?
Guest teemz Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I've got the Finnish Saunalahti-Blade and have had following experience with touchscreen freezes: Original 2.1: for over a month not a single freeze 2.2 roms flb-froyo-blade-r3a-lite, stackbladroid_v0.2, P729CUV1.0.0B04-repack2, alpha1-update-modacocustomrom-blade-kitchen-unsigned and flb-froyo-blade-r4: touch screen freezes after display goes to real sleep. Is the screen only goes black, ie wakes up by pressing hardware buttons, the touchscreen is okay. When this happens, display is working fine, phone is working fine for all six hardware buttons but the touchscreen is not working.
Guest JBSCARFACE Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Please Use The Search Feature On The Forum, ZTE Are releasing The Offical 2.2 Next Week. I cant find any info about Off Froyo nxt week. Only that i found, that in Finland they get Off Froyo in April.. Can u provide direct link pls?
Guest That-Guy Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I use Seb's r0.3: de-softened ROM for ZTE Blade / Orange San Francisco [froyo] [OLED+TFT] and in my opinion would class it as stable, no problems for me at all. But I am sure my opinion is not worth much
Guest Kthulhu Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I had a cople of screen freezes with 2.1 MDCr4 (in less than a week) and none with FLB or Seb 2.2....but that does not probe anything because at the begining I was installing and tweaking and playing with the phone all the time. About the wifi, my SF OLED never work properly at my home wifi. It's better now with Froyo but the problem is not solved. I know that the problem is that I have fix IP at home network but I do not want to change that for other reasons. Teh funny thing is that in the the other SF TFT at home I installed Finnish 2.1 rom and never had an issue connecting to wifi. It maybe something phone related, I necer tested OLED phone+Finnish, but I always guess if there is something special in the finnish rom :?
Guest Simon O Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Well since all Froyo roms are using the old Froyo kernel then I guess I was wrong and it is a kernel issue  Sorry to anybody I argued with about the issue. Back on topic the new kernels aren't compatible with the blade. It's unlikely that the upcoming Chinese ROM will have a compatible kernel either so our only choices would be to get kernel source from ZTE or another Froyo ROM with compatible kernel. I don't really want to have to wait until April for the Finnish ROM B)
Guest Meizirkki Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Could the base address be modified using mkbootimg --base ? I tried to do this a few times, but all I get is an endless reboot loop..
Guest Mike_P Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Could the base address be modified using mkbootimg --base ? I tried to do this a few times, but all I get is an endless reboot loop.. It will work, (gotta split it first of course) that's what I've been doing on the Froyo ROMs I've used. Thought it was a good idea at the time because I too got bootloops until I changed the base address but further reading suggests that it's not really that important so I can only offer what's worked for me. p.s. - I've never had a screen freeze FWIW.
Guest 298800577 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) I'm still on the stock Rom and have been looking into the rather complicated procedure of a new rom. However, there do seem to be lots of issues and fixes that still need to be finished. (i dont want my phone to lock up!) I do like all the positive speed increases people get with 2.2 however! A few months then do you think? Or will we never get a true 2.2? J hello everyone.i am a chinese ,i should have got the offical rom but the people who should give me the rom is having a travel. what a pity! well,my english is pool B) it is said that the score is around 1200! wow! Edited January 4, 2011 by 298800577

Guest Prietz0r Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 well keep it english plz ? For the people who can't understand Chinese(which I am one of them who don't understand it )
Guest Thermostat9 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 well keep it english plz ? For the people who can't understand Chinese(which I am one of them who don't understand it B)) Try Google language tools and remember it is far easier for native speakers to understand each other when they communicate in their own language.
Guest jurrasstoil Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) Try Google language tools and remember it is far easier for native speakers to understand each other when they communicate in their own language. :unsure:well, thats what PMs are for. in a forum, where there are so many people from so many different countries, using one language that almost everyone understands is a lot better than everyone using their native language. Guest kallt_kaffe Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Back on topic the new kernels aren't compatible with the blade. From what I've seen there are two adresses that has been moved 4Mb "down" (or up depends on how you look at it) on the Froyo "blades". One is the CONFIG_PHYS_OFFSET that has gone from 0x02a00000 to 0x02600000. The other (which name I've forgot right now) has moved from 0x02900000 to 0x02500000. I believe they have just "saved" 4 more megabytes for the system by relocating some stuff. Now there are three references to 0x02a0xxxx adresses in appsboot.mbn but changing them doesn't help (I've tried). From the looks of it the different memory areas are defined in amss.mbn but there are so many 0x02a00000 and 0x02900000 references in there that it's hard to be sure how many are just coincidence and how many are the "real" ones. However offset 0x129013C looks very much 0x02900000 followed by the size 0x00100000(1Mb) and then the 0x02900000 address again. And 0x1290158 hols 0x02a00000 and then (likely the size reserved for the kernel) 0x00400000 (4Mb). However it's hard to say if that is all and I haven't dared changing amss.mbn.
Guest Thermostat9 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 in a forum, where there are so many people from so many different countries, using one language that almost everyone understands is a lot better than everyone using their native language. I don't disagree but if the 'English' speakers can't even manage to write English properly why should others? well keep it english plz ? You should start a sentence with a capital letter. As a proper noun 'English' should also be capitalised and 'plz' is presumably the illiterates version of 'please'. But "Well keep it English please" doesn't really make sense even then, so if the Chinese can communicate quickly in Hanzi I don't see why anyone needs to comment on it.
Guest gauviz Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 I'm using flb-froyo on TFT blade. No screen freezes for me. Working very well. Maybe this issue is on AMOLED blades
Guest Ash_P Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) I don't disagree but if the 'English' speakers can't even manage to write English properly why should others? Seriously, why comment on the 'English' of a forum member from the Netherlands? His post makes sense and he used a colloquialism - who cares? You may not like it but language evolves.... No problem with people communicating in their own language - as long as a English translation is included. Otherwise, move to PMs. Edited January 4, 2011 by Ash_P
Guest mikhd002 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) The first Chinese dump kernel has a base address of 0x02a00000 and the second Chinese dump has 0x02600000 same as the Japanese kernel. So all Froyo roms are using the original froyo kernel (which I didn't know). But what is puzzling me is why the first Chinese kernel has a different base address. Although I have no proper experience with android, it also seems that ZTE is slightly behind in releasing official ROMs for Froyo, as for many phones, gingerbread as already been released. Personally, all I'm worried about is that my wi-fi works, it doesn't keep freezing, and it doesn't lag so much Edit: oops., I only read the first page when I made this post, but what I don't get is why this is so complicated and confusing, its as bad as having linux lol.(no offence to Linux users) I just have no idea what I'm talking about in all this kernel (the inside of popcorn?) and base layer mumbo jumbo. So please excuse me if I start asking extremely stupid questions. Its my first experience of android Edited January 4, 2011 by mikhd002
Guest checkup Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Finally if your phone is freezing so much then take it back and get a replacement. You have a hardware fault. I do not want to add any heat here, but he has a point. Even the people being happy with the 2.2-roms report "1-2 freezes over the week" which is something they can live with. So actually it is like this: a) There seems to be a group of people having no freezes with the 2.2 roms at all. (someone say 'here' pls B) ) b ) There is a group of people having some freezes with 2.2 which they can live with. c) There is a group of people having freezes with 2.2. Gone back to eclair because they have no freezes there. Phones with hardware defects would be group d) best regards and thanks for the work
Guest lixcab Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 I do wish that Android updates are pushed much like Ubuntu. It's regular, supports an extensive array of devices and update is managed by the existing Ubuntu software update manager (which I'm guessing has a series of checks in md5sum, drivers, etc) for a smooth transition. I guess carriers have too much of an incentive to hold OS updates hostage (branding perhaps?)
Guest Thermostat9 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Seriously, why comment on the 'English' of a forum member from the Netherlands? His post makes sense and he used a colloquialism - who cares? You may not like it but language evolves..... I couldn't care less what people write - but I was pointing out to jurrasstoil that 'using one language' might need explanation as (sometimes) it could be as confusing as writing in a 'foreign' language. No problem with people communicating in their own language - as long as a English translation is included. Otherwise, move to PMs. No 'translation' necessary. You may not like it, but the use of forums evolves.....

No problem with people communicating in their own language - as long as a English translation is included. Otherwise, move to PMs. Well I just wanted to say that I thought it is better to communicate in English, or something like English which is understandable for people who can read and speak English. And I am not a native English speaker, I am from The Netherlands where we speak Dutch and that's certainly nothing like English. So nothing like a attack to the Chinese speaking two, only a question to please keep it in a understandable language for all of us here. If you like to speak in your own native language there is a great function called 'Private Messaging'.
