Can't Get USB Host mod to run from gscript.

Can't Get USB Host mod reinstall to run from gscript. Had problem since a recent reflash of Pauls rom and perf mod.

Vega seems to be recognised and I'm in debugging, so maybe a daft question but could it be stuck in Host mode from a previous install?

Using bazzlads guide, when I run: adb push flash_image /data/local/ it runs then gives me a device not found error. Or, could it still be a USB prob.

EDIT: If it has stuck in host mode and therefore can't recognise is there a fix? I've checked my vega sdcard and all files present but when I run the gscripts it says can't find flash_image and quits

I have the following usb contollers in device manager:

Android Debug Bridge Interface

USB Composite Device

USB Mass Storage x 3

USB Root Hub x 3

Thanks for any guidance/help

Steve

If you installed the full r6 29 Dec mod version from Paul's thread you should notice that a 'new' app will appear on your applications screen with a USB symbol?

This app effectively replaces the Bazzlad Gscript app so you shouldn't need to install/run it anymore. I suggest you check this out first and report back and whilst you are at it try installing Simon's new widget (see this topic)which will tell you which mode you are in. Good luck

Hi trevor,

Thanks for replying.

Trouble is I can't flash anything as device(vega) is not seen from cmd, although when I plug in usb from pc it comes up with adb on device manager!?

The rom I flashed was the one previous to the r6 29th dec, so that won't work.

Have installed the widget(thanks Simon) and it's showing the vega in slave mode so cannot understand why i'm having the gscript usb host/slave flashing problem. Must be a USB driver problem.

This has probably been done before but what exactly should I see in device manager when I plug in the vega?

Thanks again for any help you can offer

Steve

Steve there is a known problem with the USB drivers which is a total pain but something we've all been through just about. If you follow the following instructions I'm hoping you should be OK afterwards :-

First, using Windows Explorer you need to go to the folder on your PC where you unzipped the files from Pauls download pack. In that folder will be a folder called 'usbdriver' and within that, one called 'usb_driver' and it is in this sub-folder where all the drivers you need are held.

If when you run the 'install-windows.bat' command as instructed nothing happens or you only get say a couple of lines of text displayed then you will need to do the following:-

Go to CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and if you have the Vega connected by USB (with power on) you should see some new hardware called ANDROID PHONE and/or NVIDIA HARMONY. Right click on each entry and click 'Uninstall' then go to the top of the list where it displays your computers name and right click on the entry and select 'Scan for hardware changes'. The Windows new hardware wizard will then pop-up asking if you have a driver disk or not. Say you have and browse to the folder called 'usb_driver' described above and select it. The hardware should then be installed with the correct drivers.

Repeat the 'install-windows.bat' command and hopefully this time a whole list of program output should appear showing it is working and in less than a minute it should all be done and your Vega will reboot itself. Then on Vega go into SETTINGS>ABOUT DEVICE and the Kernel Version should include the text ...v1.xx.... where xx is the level you are now at e.g. 06.

Note:- You may need to do the above with every new release as it seems to be the only way of updating the drivers properly unless someone else can tell us a better way

Alternate solution: Install ADBWireless from market (free, no ads). This allows you to do ADB commands over WiFi without needing a USB cable.

Hi again Trevor,

Success!. Managed to get latest r6 29th Dec installed by following your unistalling procedure.

Will now leave my XP pc alone, just use it for future upgrades, and not mess with usb settings!

Very appreciative Trevor, thanks a lot

Steve
