Not all CPUs are born equal!

Gonna keep mine at 600MHz if I ever bother to put Froyo on it. But maybe I'll test just how far it can go...

Yeah, ot.

how sensible of you :D

Noob question here - How does one overclock?

There is a guide anywhere as I cant see to find any info on it

(I assume you've rooted your phone and have clockwork installed) You'd first want to make sure that you're on japanese jellyfish RLS5 because that incorporates the newest kernel. Download the AHB overclock tool (on the jellyfish thread) and flash it using clockwork. Then download setcpu (it's an app) enable root permissions and then you can set it from there.

Thanks dude. Im on Seb's rom and have updated the Kernel already. Just needed to know where to go to from there. thanks

Just to make sure - it is ok to Flash Seb's Rom with the AHB overlock tool, right?

Sebastian's Froyo has the newest kernel too but does not support overclocking. Be aware that there are a lot of people having serious problems with battery life on the japanese jellyfish RLS5 (maybe because of the overclocking modifications?). If you want something stable keep Sebastian404's Froyo v.03 and flash the new kernel. If you want overclocking with the price of a risk to have lower battery life, flash the japanese jellyfish then the OC Kernel and then use SetCPU to overclock.

i had mine set at 710mhz last night

i've just tried it at 748mhz and getting 582 on quadrant and 41.5fps on neocore

Edit gone back to 710 was crashing after half an hour

Tried it out, my current speed that seems solid enough after 5 min stresss test...

748MHz - Highest(Can't go higher :D)

245MHz - Lowest(I can't use 122MHz my phone just stops responding???)

Mines rock solid at 729MHz and I have set the underClock to 122MHz

Very nice.

Had 1 freeze so gone down to 710MHz

Awww...!!! I'll be your friend!1!**!1! (As would many here, I expect.)

Not for me I never see the bill :D

This happened to me too. 729MHz worked like a dream and I did benchmark. A few hours later it froze while I was playing around with the launcher.

710MHz have been running great since yesterday :D

when you set the speed to do you just change the max sped or both max and min, if you change min what to?

anyone knows if OsMonitor is usable with the new kernel?

All I did was install JJ RLS5

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...01-07-oled-tft/

Then install the Japanese_Jellyfish_RLS5_ahb_overclocked.zip

Then simply install SetCPU

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419

After this launch SetCPU and change the slidy bar to be the setting I have

BE VERY WARY OF SET ON BOOT!

changed to max 710 do you hav to change the min? how do you underclock to 122 like yours buh for when the screen is a sleep only?

Mine seems to be fine on 710, I've hammered the phone with heavy game to see how it fairs, the only annoying thing I have is to do with set CPU itself, if I try to access the sliders after some time I can't the screen just goes black, and I have to press home to get out of it, the only way to access setcpu again is to reboot the phone, this is super annoying.

The Blade seem to handle 122MHz so I left that as minimum speed. If you get problems receiving calls/sms and/or wake up issues you might want to increase it. Scaling is set to ondemand.

As for profiles I got 2

Temp>50, Max 480MHz, conservative

Screen off, Max 600MHz, ondemand

As StevenHarperUK says, BE VERY WARY OF SET ON BOOT!

Do not set it unless you are absolutely sure your phone is stable at the current setting

How exactly do I go about overclocking? Do I just need to buy set CPU or do I need to do something to my phone first? (other than root it)

I guess I need the new Kernel, where can I get it? o;

At 768 I freeze. Immediately.

710 has been rock steady for half an hour or so, and Angry Birds is noticeably smoother.

I'll tell you, though, even at 600 this ROM seems to take the battery down faster than Paul's r4 did. It's snappy, but ... that seems to come at a price. I'll use it for a few days before I decide whether that's a problem.

Hmm best I've managed was a 603 on Quadrant when I just managed to get a test through at 768MHz it's not stable though, 748MHz is however stable for me getting about 588 on that

Can someone help me out? Sorry for being nooby but really wanna try out the overclocking. Do I need to use a ROM with the new Kernel included or can I install it ontop of my current rom somehow? Using Pauls 2.2 ROM

Edit: Well I just installed the jellyfish rom instead. Initial tests seem to indicate its stabel at 710 but anything over that and it instantly crashes!

What the hell, my battery is draining so fast though. Could leave my phone for days before and now I've seen it go down 3 percent in battery just in the time it took me to restore 5 back ups!

Freezing now at 710. Guess I got a bad chip :C

Battery has gone down another 3 percent >>

Greek blade(TFT):

1st: install JJ RLS5

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...01-07-oled-tft/

2nd: install the Japanese_Jellyfish_RLS5_ahb_overclocked.zip

3rd: install SetCPU

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419

Min: 122

Max: 729 (My cpu can hit 749 but when charging reboots after a while...High temp i think :D ).

10min stress test with SetCPU everything ok!!!

Quadrant: 545!!

Happy ZTE Blade owner! :P

Same here, 710mhz seems stable, I've been running at that speed for a couple of days. It will run at 729mhz or 748mhz, but it crashes sometimes.

Can anybody get it to set the oc settings on boot? It doesn't work for me, I have to manually set it on each boot.

I've been using the conservative scaling governor too, it seems just as responsive, but doesn't go up to max speed every time you touch the screen like with ondemand.

No, way. Phone just froze and reset after running my GBA emualtor for about 15 minutes at 690. Guess I got a really terrible chip might aswell just leave it at stock :D

It does seem like about 550 is the standard really with overclocking, now I wonder if there is anymore in the blade really in terms of optimisation, I think we have really hit the max give or take a bit.

what do you all think?
