i just dont give a.. faq about this.

if something new released - i'll try it,

if there is no something new - i don't care.

also, i dont need OC and i don't need over 9000 in quadrant.

Who cares about OC... kernel sources means we can have fully-functional portings of other ROMs like Cyanogen and MIUI, that's what's important IMHO.

i know that.

but most part of auditory wants OC.

also. what acer uploaded to their site and called it "kernel source" (for E 2.2)? 90Mb in zip, and 300mb when unzipped... just interesting

It is great that you don't need it.

Yes, I am simple enough and requesting for a OC kernel from source only.

Seems that you have some spare time, join us and push for the kernel source release if you like to.

It's interesting of what the hack is the Acer's engineer doing B)

Is that too much thing for them to handle at the same time or they just don't have enough man :P

The weird thing is that releasing the sources should be a matter of very little work and it doesn't "hurt" them in any way... I mean, what profit are they getting by not releasing them?? The only thing I can think of is that there's something in the sources that violates some licence or copyright... that would be improbable indeed but I can't think of any plausible reason why they don't release the sources.

EDIT: Acer response just arrived:

Thank you for contacting Acer UK.

Regarding your enquiry,

We regret the inconvenience caused to you.

We understand your concern. Our technical and development team are working on a high priority basis to meet the latest market requirements. After developing the new facilities it has to pass multiple tests, which requires more customisation to attain best user friendly results.

Once these facilities are ready we will definitely upload them on our website.

Thank you for being patience and keeping us in business.

Sounds very much like a pre-written "default" response by a customer care guy that doesn't have the slightest idea what a "kernel" is.... sigh... well better than nothing I suppose.

They can be late, but they seem to be ignoring requests right now.

I feel like we need to get traction on this by setting up a dedicated blog, a Facebook page, and daily tweets until they get this to us.

LOL this looks like typical response from the simplest kind of customer support AI software... To generate this kind of response you only need to take a basic computational linguistics course! (may be a stretch to call it AI :), more like regexp + database ;) )

Maybe someone needs to send an email outlining their responsibilities under the GPL, and "proof" that they have not released the full sources to build the production kernel and send it to Acer's Legal Department (I would assume they have one, as most corporations of this size do).

The GPL guidelines recommend to notify the company/individual that holds the copyright beeing violated, that would be Google I suppose? Or the AOSP?
