Surely you all must have heard of Gtunes, you can stream any music you can think of, plus if you like it, you can download.

One of the best apps I've ever used.

I don't know if it fits your needs because I know its not the same thing as what you asked about, but I've been using subsonic now and its been very good.

It indexes your music library and serves it via a web interface or free apps for iphone/android (the android one is similar to the stock music player). To use mobile streaming after a month the minimum "Donation" is 10 Euro.

Audiogalaxy is free and pretty polished

is Gtunes street legal?

I've got a trial with Grooveshark so will give that a go......... my dad lives in the US, so $15 for some crap earrings and a year of music doesn't sound like a bad deal........... but yea amybe I'm new to this, but browsing albums is tough. I clicked through to RATM - Evil Empire and it had over 70 tracks on it

;)

Gulp! I take it all back. Further sniffing about has revealed that gtunes actually has nothing to do with google (turns out it ain't nuthin but a G-thang as snoop would say). My bad

It seems to be a search engine for media files hosted by other sites - so not really very legal after all...

You said it yourself its just like Youtube in the way it operates, and people wouldn't really argue that Youtube is bad or illegal...
Youtube does not profit from having copyrighted material in their servers. Also, I don't know anyone who would use Youtube as their primary music streaming service...

I know artists are already complaining about Spotify but I really can't afford 200cds to keep them happy either. Once artists realize they should make the deal directly with the streaming services, greedy recording companies will die.

Fair point. Agreed with what you wrote there ;)

You can also try Simfy, pretty good one and 100% legit, it allows you to store the songs offline too.
