Thank god for that; about time.

Yeah that's ZTE's one. From reading the ROM page, Paul's froyo should have the android one in the prebake. Try redownloading?

Or are you using the kitchen? In which case check that the right box is ticked.

I'm using the kitchen, I must've gone with the wrong option, twice, heh. Thanks for pointing out which is which though.

I am trying to disable 'mute' on the dialer in regards to battery issue. I have gone through the posts here and there's been tons of posts mentioning Settings app by Stackirish. Yet I can't find the app? Where is it? Or is there another way to turn it off?

dont think you can, to be honest

Google introduced Buyer's Currency for this, the apps will be paid in the local currency from now on, look.

Is Buyer's currency working for you? not mine.

Thanks,

I assume I won't need to wipe cache/data every time I try to install a new theme?

Here are my daft questions. Have a ZTE blade, JJR9 working brilliantly. Having just followed guide, now would like to understand a little more

If I have been able to put JJ9 on, presume I still have clockwork installed?

If so do I have Nandroid? What is it?

ES File Explorer or Astro file manager?

Backing up, do I need Titanium backup?

How would I know if I had Recovery Manager on phone?

Can I use ROM manager on blade?

Love this phone and thanks to all on this site who made my debranding etc relatively easy, scary! but realtively easy

Yep, clockwork stays on after a rom flash

Nandroid is a way of backing up your phones current state. It is useful if you flash a rom or something and it messes up your phone .you can just turn it back to how it was. If you have clockwork mod recovery, you have nandroid. Just goto backup and go through the menus

Astro. Its useful as you can check the md5 of a download to make sure it's not corrupted. I havent tried te other one so I can't really judge

Yep, titanium backs up allow of your apps and so after a wipe and a fresh rom installed, you can install the apps you had back on there

It would be in your app drawer

Yes you can, although recovery managers specifically for the Blade and so I'd say use that instead

? DUH.......I admit newest is probably most updated but when installing ROM i was advised to a v.0.29b zip. As I still do not fully understand everything I am doing ( i just follow guides that work thanks to the people on this site), i seek guidance when unsure. Thanks for your reply

I hope you guys can help me.

i got myself a Orange SF from the UK.

So it's a new model with the tft screen.

My only problem is the sd card, i cant access it.

When plugging in the phone i'm asked it the card should be mounted as mass storage device or not.

Until then the icon in my computer is semi transparent, when i do mount it the icon is a normal mass storage icon.

But when i try to access it i always get the windows message "please insert disk into mass storage device".

In the windows disk management the card is shown as "raw" format.

if i take the card out of the phone and use it in a cardreader it's the same, unmounting or taking it simply out makes no difference.

I can format the card in the cardreader but windows tells me it is in use, which is impossible, but i can format it anyway.

After formatting i can copy files on it, put it in the phone and access the files with the file manager.

But to use it via windows is impossible again...

i got the phone with a 2.2 froyo rom but dont know exactely which one, i tried jellyfish r9 and flb r10b,

the problem still exists.

i am going to try the stock rom but my expectations are low...

alright, i just tried my eee pc. it works.

so it's a problem with my normal pc. i already reinstalled the drivers and tried the ones from the forum.

what the hell?!

Okay complete newbie to all of this but I've been reading around for quite a while and think I'm ready to put a new ROM on my phone (going to go for the FLB Froyo as it's the most stable/up to date?) Few questions anyway:

Is it true you don't need to root a phone to put a ROM on? If so I don't understand how that works and how you get Clockwork etc on there but okay..

If I rooted the phone, put on a new ROM and something went wrong and had to send it back, could they see it had been rooted and is there a way to unroot it? Assuming I'd reverted to a stock ROM before sending it in.

And IF in a touch wood unlikely situation that I put a new ROM on and somewhere down the line my touchscreen stopped responding in some way and had to send it in, would I be totally screwed in that I couldn't revert back to a stock ROM or anything?

Going to try and follow both the guides on here and orangesanfrancisco.co.uk which I've seen there's mixed opinions about but it's still a scary process for someone who's never done anything like this before, the latter just seems to make it as simple as. Really don't really want to brick my phone afterall!

Cheers very much for any help!

Nah i'm a complete noob too, had an iphone until few days ago, but it's not that hard.

do the clockwork method.

get fastboot, use it to install clockwork on your phone.

then copy your desired rom on the sd card (if you can :() and boot the phone into clockwork = press and hold volume down while turning on.

you'll see the clockwork menu in a few secs.

navigate via volume up / down and select via home.

i recommend doing a backup first, after that wipe your phone. 1. wipe data 2. wipe cache.

then "install zip from sdcard" and select your rom.

if the rom you use is correct the probability to brick your phone is 1212372351532513254256652 to 1.

even if the process fails and you cant boot your system, go into clockwork and install the rom again or your backup.

rooting just means you get full administrative rights. some roms are already rooted, if not get "universal androot".

it's a normal app that roots your phone, install it and use it once and you are done.

1) no you don't have to root it

2) no, if you put a stock rom on it will still be rooted, but when i sent mine back, they don't check for stuff like that.

3) no you wouldn't. if you do a nandroid backup (in clockwork goto>backup and restore>backup. this creates a backup and so you can restore this if your phone messes up.

4) try this guide:

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-the-zte-blade/

it has a vid and so makes it much clearer and easier.
