Another daft question ( thanks HMZX for your answers). Going to get blade for daughter. She is currently with Orange. If I unlock using my O2 sim, and debrand it, then insert her sim will she still be able to use Orange as data provider etc. Thanks

Another daft question

Why is the clock on this bulletin board running 20 minutes fast?

It's 7.54pm here as I press submit, but it will be posted as a different time in Modaco land

(welcome to pedants corner!)

EDIT: ok then, only 10 minutes fast - [/pedantry]

hang on

EDIT - rats - thought I'd figured out why...

wrong

@kerryokeefe yes, she certainly will, with all the shonky Orangey internet hamfistedness that entails

Even though the volume on my blade is on max and notifications are set to full sound and vibrate, I'm not hearing my phone ring when its on my pocket for messages or emails. is there an app that makes it ring or vibrate better?

also, is there an app to make one of the bottom lights blink on a missed notification?

Another daft question. Heard that the more recent OSF/ ZTE blades are becoming more difficult to debrans etc. Is this true? and if so, are there ways round this?

Yeah they can't enter fastboot but if you use TPT they become just like all the others.

This question is probably incredibly daft, but I'm looking to install an add-on to JJ RLS9 via clockwork and wanted to know whether I need to clear the cache again before installing? Many thanks.

Would it be best to untick "Data connection" in the settings>account and sync>Data connection? or should that be kept running?

If you are PAYG then unticking it would save battery and that you wouldn't accidently access the internet and use all your credit! You can turn this back on at anytime and you can d/l media messages (i.e. text and video messages) without turning it on.

I leave it off all the time.

Hope this helps!

See previous comment. Bought daughter new blade, unlocked, debranded in 30 mins. Took me 4 weeks with mine!! Set new phone up with free orange sim I got with my phone, had £10 credit on, daughter planning to use orange for now ( currently at uni - dont have her sim). I have created account with google and downloaded some apps from market place. 2 (more) daft questions. 1. will the google account recognise a different sim to the one i created account with. 2. Other than the £10 on the sim I set phone up with, I never registered this sim with orange (im with o2) and was not able to send texts etc. If I put my daughters sim in, will she be able to send texts? Phew - talk about going round the houses! Sorry for long question, but do need answers, taking phone to D on saturday.

Q1. RE: "No Tethering" (GiffGaff in my case, but equally relevant to TheOnePlan on 3) - if I use my Blade as a wifi hotspot, then connect my laptop via Wi-fi, is this going to lead to network disconnection?

Q2: as above, but instead of my laptop, I use my netbook, running android...?

Another stupid question coming from a complete novice: I took some videos on my OSF and would like to transfer them onto my computer. How do I do this? When I turn USB storage on it only gives me the option to import pictures and if I open the phone's root directory I can't seem to find the videos there.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for being such an android retard. :(

Probably not. It's just the amount of traffic that matters, not what you're using it for (as much as networks would like you to believe otherwise).

The OS you're tethering to makes absolutely no difference (why would it? :( )

I m using FLB-Froyo r10 ROM and when I write a text I find that where the return / enter key should be it is just a smiley face, to select one of the emoticons. Is there a way that I can get the return / enter key to show...?

Thanks

Thanks to those who have answered my daft questions so far. :( If somebody will humour me, I have one last stupid question...

I have just flashed the FLB-Froyo rom and joined GiffGaff. Everything seems to be up and running, sim's working and I have my new number. However, when I go to settings - about phone - status, "my phone number" is showing as unknown. It's not a massive deal, but I'd like to know if there is a way to get my new number to show up? Thanks again.

Hi all , can anybody tell me how to test a battery , we have 3 san-frans in our house , the last one purchased has a faulty battery i think , you can more or less watch it dis-charging , swapped battery with phone b battery and same then happens on phone b , so i think its definately the battery , looked in "spare parts" battery usage and pretty similar figures to a good working one ,

Anybody any tips on how i can 100% confirm its goosed , so as i can return it to the online supplier for replacement ? (if thats even possible without the handset)

many thanks

App from the market - My Phone Number, download, the you will be able to find it settings>about phone>status and there it is!

Hope this helps

Thanks Azurren , i will give this a try today , i am not very hopeful tho , as not needed to do this with other devices , and all been rooted+rom`d in same method ,

nevertheless , thanks for your time mate

Sometimes you have to do this after every flash (Depends on how full the battery was when flashing the rom)
