Guest cedge Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) Another daft question.... When the gingerbread keyboard pops up to enter text, how can you get rid of it again from the screen? Another daft question....I'm looking to attempt my first backup tonight in preperation for trying/updating my FLB 10b firmware. Do I need to backup my App's through an App like Astro AND perform a Nandroid backup using Clockwork or is either/or? Edited March 22, 2011 by cedge

As for 2, does that include messages, widgets, email settings etc, the whole caboodle? Another daft question: I've done a Nandroid using Clockwork, if I now want to try a new ROM and like it enough to stick with it can I backup my apps using Astro file manager before installing a new ROM, then on installation of the new ROM, download Astro again and restore all the app's that were on my device the previous time + settings or is there a better way to do this? Hope that makes some sort of sense :D. Edited March 22, 2011 by cedge

Guest Pia23 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Hi, Can someone direct me to a complete idiots guide to changing ROM? :D I have read through the stickys and tbh i am worried about doing it. I'm scared of losing all my stuff, I don't fully understand it. Main reason i want to do it is to use apps2sd. Should i use the FLB Froyo ROM that i just read about on this forum? I'm so fed up of having to delete apps (even paid ones) because i am running out of space, because the apps i use most are the biggest (Opera Mini, CardioTrainer, Google Maps etc etc) Ps. don't shout at me if it's all in this thread, i am about to go lie in bed and read through it all again, last time i read it was ages ago. I used the guide over on http://orangesanfrancisco.co.uk/ with no problems although I understand now that it might be different if you have a Gen1 or Gen 2 phone which you can check with the "Ask Mr Pigfish" app (first line when you run the app states which version). If it's a Gen1 blade like mine then the the guides on http://orangesanfrancisco.co.uk/ should work fine. I'm a complete Android noob by the way so if I can do it, practicably anyone can do it.

Guest TouchyAndalou Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 How do I change my default video player? The rom I'm using (latest SS) seems to have the stock player set, and I can't see an option allowing me to use anything else. I'd like to use myPlayer for watching videos, which I have been able to do with previous roms. Thanks in advance.

Guest Bichisu Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I've been searching for a guide about partitioning sd card with no results. I want to use A2SD properly, so is it necessary to create specific partitions on a new card? If so, is there a complete guide for that? Thanks in advance :D

Thanks in advance :D ex with a 2 gigs sdcard create a first primary partition of 1.5 gigs in fat32 format create a second primary partition of 512 megs in ext3 format i give you an easy tip boot with an ubuntu live cd and use gparted to do the job two solutions 1) use a sd card reader 2) mount your sd card in clockworkmod
Guest mickey megabyte Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 forgive my noobishness, pheonix, but it is a daft question thread after all... i'm also considering buying a new sd card, but 8 gigs rather than 2. what are the two different partitions for? the big fat32 one (which will be 7.5 gigs for me?) is it for user and app data? and also for moving apps onto the card? and it's in fat32 so my windows machines can read it? the small ext3 is some sort of system partition? and what lives on there? swap file or something? is it just a case of partitioning, copying my user data from old card to new, then just stick it in the phone and boot it? and the phone will know what to do with the partitions? or will i have to do anything else?

Guest mickey megabyte Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 thanks pheonix. 512 megs will be enough for apps? is it worth making it bigger 'just to be safe', or is it some android limitation?

Which apps are ok to move to SD - games less than other apps? I assume the original downloaded apks can be deleted as titanium restores apps differently
