Keyboard on forums when posting a message can be horrendously laggy, is it improved under Froyo?

Still slow on my MCR 2.2. How much slower compared to stock 2.1? I can't tell as I don't remember.

I find typing on most websites a nightmare. Very laggy, eBay is pretty bad for me as well as this forum. Someone should make modaco app ;) :) :D

I'm using Paul's 2.2 alpha 4

It's a stuck pixel. Download jscreenfic and/or Pixel Fixer, and let them run for some time.

They didn't fix my stuck pixel, but there are many people who reported it to be working.

If it doesn't help, you can take it back, but they probably won't replace it for this. *wink* *wink*

fixed pixel has fixed my dead pixel

thanks for the info

Hi. On my currently stock Orange SF there is a small screen that toggles WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth etc on the 'second screen to the left'. Is this facility part of the Orange customisation or is it part of basic Android. With the release of pukka 2.2 ROM for the Blade imminent (hopefully), I'm thinking of just de-Oranging my phone for now but like the WiFi toggle option to toggle WiFi when the phone restarts from sleep. TIA - Y

If I make a backup of my handset with clockwork mod, does it keep my customisation options - wallpaper, homescreen, icons, etc?

Also, would it be okay for me to use this backup to restore a friend's handset so that they have the same settings, customisations (if they apply) etc.

Just don't want to transfer personal details - google accounts and such to the new handset. So, basically, would it be okay to repackage the backup as a "clean stock" type image?

Cheers all.

No, clockwork backups are not nearly as selective as that. Inside the backup would be an image for data, system, recovery, boot, .android_secure and cache.

Cache is fairly irrelevant for a backup afaik.

Recovery would contain clockwork in your case.

Boot and system are basically the ROM you're using.

.android_secure is where froyo puts apps on the SD card (if you're using it).

Data is your user data. This would contain settings and non-system apps.

If you restored your backup on his phone, it would essentially be a clone of yours. ALL user data would be transferred. You could restore then wipe his data, but it would be the same effect as installing the ROM on his.

For the selective kind of restoring you want, you could copy your Titanium Backup directory from your SD card to his, then restore only the settings you wanted (skipping accounts etc) then delete the directory when you're done. (This is after restoring and wiping with clockwork or flashing the same ROM as yours.)

Hi again. I looked for Blade WiFi Fix and ended up at the AppBrain site. I'd hoped to be able to download on my PC and then transfer to the SF however it seems only to want to install direct to the SF. When I went there with the phone, it wanted me to login and synchronise my phone with Google! I have a Google login of old but certainly don't want to sync my phone with them. Is there any way I can I get such apps without syncing with Google? Cheers - Y

On the Appbrain site - on the page for the app you want there is a QR/more button, click on this then scan the QR code with bar code/QR software on your phone (which uses the camera to capture the image of the code on your PC screen).

Or just search for blade wifi fix on the market.

His point is he doesn't want to use the market if I'm reading it right. I think the QR just uses a 'market//:' url.

I'm not sure if anywhere keeps apks of market apps, it's probably not legal.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Don't have a QR download facility (virgin SF at present) so tried the market. I need to create a Google account to use the market it seems. :) How do I control what 'synchronisation' Google does for my phone. I'm quite happy to create a login (seems to involve having a Google Mail account) but I don't want to give them my contacts etc. Cheers - Y

Edit: Sorted this now, have to say I was probably was being a bit paranoid about 'synchronisation'. I've now signed up for a second gmail account (with a gmail.com domain) that I'll never use otherwise, and have now downloaded what I want. Cheers - Y

Maybe I'm being really dense, but when I open the SMS application, all I see is "new message".

Why don't I have sent, deleted, drafts, etc.?

Are you sure you cleared the cache and data and everything before flashing the ROM?

It's normal for the first boot to take a while. But if it persists, try either reflashing the ROM after clearing cache and data, or restore your backup.
