Guest Phoenix Silver Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 also there is a lazylist on my SD card...whats this for? and no...well yes im a bit lazy  it's like an internet explorer temporary dir some apps use it for cache and so on you can delete all files in no prob lost.dir is when something went wrong (ex copying files from pc to phone and connexion drop) the lost files (it don't know what to do with) go in you can delete all files in no prob
Guest Lymer Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 also there is a lazylist on my SD card...whats this for? and no...well yes im a bit lazy  Very funny The reason for my question is I've searched this Forum without finding an explanation, LOST.DIR thread just turns into discussion of SD cards I Googled Lost.Dir and found it 1: is like the recycle bin from Windows in Unix and Android. 2: is something mac disk repair looks for. 3: is used for compatibility with the Mac OS. 4: is a folder build by the fsck process that checks filesystem integrity after file transfers. 5: stores damaged files when SD card incorrectly un-mounted from Computer. I'm not familiar with Unix folders but assume it's 1 or 5

Guest phlum Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Couple of questions 1st one I asked elsewhere but never got a reply If I make a backup with clockwork or sebs recovery manager can I copy the recovery folder from within the clockwork folder on the SD card to another phone's SD card and then restore to that recovery file on the second phone? 2nd - rhetorical - why doesn't everyone use FTP to wirelessly transfer stuff from their PC to phone? No need to muck about with data cables - just use SwiFTP or similar In Clockwork, the backup is, erm, backed up to a folder in the SD card. So, yes, you should be able to. Also, why doesn't everyone use Dropbox to wireless transfer stuff from their PC to phone? No need to muck about with data cables - just use Dropbox! (http://db.tt/TrZOzd2)

(http://db.tt/TrZOzd2) Hiya I've been using Dropbox for a while, but found LAN works much more quickly, partic when you're transferring massive files, (hmm, let's say ROMs firmwares, for example). No need to wait while it uploads from your pc to a server somewhere in DropBoxland, just squirt it through your own airspace. Also it lets you firkle about with your SD card folders through a window on your PC, which I think is pretty sweet, and certainly helped me do some springcleaning last night See also androidscreencast . Its a PC application in java that grabs video from your phone's screen and lets you use your mouse to control your phone. Very cool (though unhelpfully, at the moment, due - i think - to the blade having it's screen on upside down, it inverts the phone screen in the window on your pc) Re the backup issue, my question relates more to whether or not backups you make are unique to the phone, or whether you could apply them to a second handset. I fear this might not be possible, but perhaps some 2 bladed volunteer can try it out
Guest wolverine73 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Okay - a video based question....... I've got a few dvd's (remember those!) with a digital copy on them that i can stick on my pc - xmen origins:wolverine being one. How would i go about playing something like this on my Blade? Would i have to convert the file type before USBing it to my Blade - if so which type and is there a decent free converter? I have mVideoPlayer installed aswell as Rockplayer - the 1.5.5 version which isn't the newest but is supposed to be the best.........are these sufficient to play a full movie on? Note - i have a 16GB memory card in with tons of space so room isn't an issue :)

But, the water is there for testing!
Guest lixcab Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Right. I finally have my O2 sim and Orange PAC. I still have 10 pounds on my Orange PAYG and I don't really want to waste that by porting the number to O2 already. How can I use up my credits?

Turn your Wi-Fi off so you're using data connection, and browse MoDaCo for a few hours with images on and image quality set to high. In fact, go on the 'Post your home screen' thread. ...unless that's not what you meant.

I'm thinking some kind of purchase, maybe an app or even something tangible using mobile phone credit to pay.

Guest wolverine73 Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 just convert dvd to divx and play them in the blade with rockplayer guess what i'm watching ? Thanks for your help but im still struggling slightly :) I noticed on your screenshot that your audio is ac3.......... when i rip my dvd to the divx format it only allows me to use MP3 as audio choice and whilst the video plays fine on rockplayer (it will only play in software decoding mode for some reason) the audio is miles out of sync from the picture. Im using Xilisoft DVD Ripper platinum to convert if that makes a difference. Is there a way to get my output the same as yours? - ive got Video as Mpeg4 and file as AVI so i'm two thirds the way there  Thanks in advance for any suggestions
