Guest LorD CLockaN Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I had excelent battery life on 1.4.6 and 1.5.0, but than played with that perfmode and after applying 1.5.1 my battery went berserk... and after a coupleof days it calmed down and everything was like before.. since than every update is eating my battery like crazy... I think I need to do a factory reset, but don't want to ;) I hate seting up my streak from zero again.. But I promised my self to dp thos just before 1.6.1. update tomorrow I hope!
Guest andreas_c4 Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I use advanced task killer (kill level safe. auto kill - when screen off). battery ETA with current discharging velocity 5.9 an op. time 15:28:12. wi-fi off BT off GPS: off (anyway it doesn't work on 1.6 for me, no locking sattelites) data disabled network mode: gsm only brightness: 12%

Guest Sotiris Lekkas Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 In other words you turn off pretty much all the stuff that makes a smart phone worth having! +1 I think a smartphone should last a whole day on a full charge without the need to disable all of the above. My battery life decreased significantly after 1.6.0. I'm confident that Steve will manage to fix this in one of the next updates.
Guest Truenash Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I haven't yet flashed a custom rom on my Streak, but I've had some experience on the Hero. I found battery life a bit inconsistent from release to release whereas others were getting a long time. The fix was usually clearing the dalvik cache, not sure why this worked, but it did, so if you haven't cleared yours in a while I recommend it.
Guest sukicat Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Hi I have done many updates from 2.1 to a few of steve's Roms with no problem I have been all day trying to update from 2.2 official to 1.6.0 I flashed the Amss.mbn and let it boot up then tried to get into clockwork but it will not boot into clockwork and it just goes into 2.2 with the Leds flashing am I doing something wrong ? has its been a long time since I have done update, Also has any one got a link to the Official UK 2.2 just in case I need it !!! Guest nonong Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 the settings bar is black on black (black text black background) - is there anyway to change the text to white?

Guest LorD CLockaN Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 flash mistadman's recovery image from xda streak forum! It works much better than clockworks.. If it stuck on dell logo when entering recovery image push some buttons and it will load up a menu

Guest LorD CLockaN Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 OK, but power button doesn't have half-press state like camera button ;)

Thanks Crack it at last it seems that there is a 309 Recovery Image on steakdroid site how to waste a afternoon :) First thing I have noticed is the speed compared to 2.2 I only installed Bios so will spend the rest of the day putting my Apps back on has I did a Factory Reset when I got cheesed off with the clockwork not working ..Happy days ;)
Guest Spike8585 Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 A few pages ago, people were talking about setcpu, and using smartass setting. Few questions: 1) What does smartass do? 2) What is the maximum CPU clock speed recommended? 2.1)Are all allowable frequencies safe? 2.2)Exponential battery drainage? Thanks.

Sorry might be a stupid question but cant find the answer.
Guest LorD CLockaN Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 (edited) 1 answered a few pages back 2 1190MHz (some push it all the way) 2.1 depends how brave are you 2.2 I would say that higher freq increases battery drain, but NOT exponentialy, linery maybe.. but if u compare setcpu (with overclocked method) with no-setcpu... Setcpu is the way to go! @zeroshero: yes Edited January 14, 2011 by LorD CLockaN

Thanks The O2 update (319) always seemed to remove clockwork recovery after each reboot, have you tried flashing clockwork recovery and going straight into recovery. I.e After the recovery update type "fastboot -i 0x413c reboot" , keep both volume buttons pressed down when it reboots. Hope this helps. PS remove the " from the cmd line. ;-)

Sorry might be a stupid question but cant find the answer. Factory reset will wipe all your apps. Use dell backup and restore app, it works but you have to restore one by one. (Titanium always gives me fc on certain apps even with apps only selected)
Guest stoney1973 Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 ups.. I meant 1190!!! edited Mine actually offers 1267 through setcpu.
Guest ClippinWings Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 (edited) Mine actually offers 1267 through setcpu. But that creates the Overclock by Over-volting... HEAVILY Prolonged use will likely damage your device. DJ Steve has been pretty clear not to attempt using that as your "regular" setting. Edited January 14, 2011 by ClippinWings
