I do, k20a2, hondata, a hatchback monster ;) , and when I hook up the dell streak to it I get even more horsepower ha!

VERY NICE! I'm jealous... I've still got the aenemic A3, but coupled it with an intake DCSports Race header and HKS Hi-Power exhaust (the latter two are units made for the Type-S)

I really need to jump on the next beta! I'm dying here waiting for 1.6.1 to release

Hi,

Follow Steve on twitter and he let's every one know when the betas are available.

THanks.

Anthony.

Ps. 1.6.1-perf3 beta is the smoothest fastest yet ;)

How's battery life? I went from Stock 2.2 318 build to StreakDroid 1.6 and the battery life was baaaaaad.

On 2.2 318 i was easily able to get 50+ hours per charge with pretty good usage. Dropping StreakDroid 1.6 i'm lucky to get 18 hours and last night before i went to bed i had 45% left on my phone... Set my alarm and went to bed. Woke up a little late this morning grabbed my phone to see why the alarm didn't go off and it was completely dead. Not sure what's sucking up all the battery but its pretty bad. I haven't added a whole lot to his build, just Handcent and 4square, and 4square doesn't do much unless you're in the app so i know the GPS isn't going crazy all night.

Anyway, how's the battery life. LOL

how smooth and fast are we talking

Consistent Quadrant score of 2400+ @119.

Battery life over 24hrs, norm @ 36hr

No Fcs (except on Gingerbread keyboard)

No lag on applications at start up or running.

Camera images still / video all clear and smooth.

Phone calls no issues.

Video playback (Rockplayer - no lag)

Bluetooth stereo all smooth for music and video playback.

Just from the top of my head and ps I'm also running adw ex, with multiple widgets, icons and tweetdeck ;)

Hope this helps.

Just curious. Is anyone able to get 720p mkv files to play smooth on the streak.

I am currently using beta 1.6.1 (which is great btw)

Tried Arcmedia, Rockplayer, and mplayer. Im not sure its possible to get a decent framerate for 720 mkv files ;).

I was wondering that same thing.

I thought this was supposed to play HD, as it has an HDMI dock, and records 720p.

My guess is that it will require you to transcode it to mp4.

Haven't tried it though.

Just tried RED in 720p in Vital player full OC, SD class 10 and it's no GO for 720p

For tunners:

HRC all the way ;)

Have you tried vplayer?

(alpha wasn't too bad, beta didn't work on the streak but I think there a general version now)

Ta,

Anthony.

Have you done the internal SD mod?

Which Class 10 card do you use?

I tried VPlayer but it keeps FCing on me.

I have a kingmax 16GB Class 10 card. I ran the Antutu benchmark against it and I'm getting on avg 15mb/s write and 17mb/s read (pretty decent i think)

Looks like I will have to transcode the files.

I have seen this happen but changing the lcd density fixed it.

FC's happen in the dialer n making calls when the lcd density is above the stock 160...u shud use alternative dialers if u wanna continue using a higher lcd density..

and also make sure tht ur baseband reads 31800...

Ive mentioned before that I dont see point in porting gingerbread since 3d support would be virtually unusable due to google stupid idea to change the driver frameworks so froyo drivers wont work. Also gingerbread is slower than froyo on every device ive tried. Plannin to jump to honeycomb when its out

Steve,

with all respect to what you've done for the community and all your skills, I don't agree about your ideas about skipping Gingerbread and going directly to Honeycomb.

Because of 2 reasons:

1. Gingerbread is nice to have becasue it has:

- native sip client

- very nice text editing features (copy/paste etc.)

- 3g video feature

- all other nice features that are not available on Froyo

2. If Gingerbread is hard to compile for Streak and slow on all devices, how do we know that Honeycomb won't be even harder to compile and (maybe) slower ?

Of course, you can decide for yourself, which version of Android you'll continue to work with. However, I am disappointed to see you saying (or meaning):

- "Gingerbread is meaningless to work for"

- "It is difficult or impossible to compile Gingerbread for Dell Streak"

Just wanted to share my ideas. Please don't beat me because I am honest...

Steve said he will try and include GB Cut and Paste in his Foyo build.

I guess it would be much easier to support Gingerbread if Dell were to write compatible drivers... Can't really expect Stephen to do it for them.

It will be very interesting to see where Dell go with the Opus One (Dell Streak II)... If it does sport a high resolution screen and more horsepower perhaps they'll ship it with Honeycomb - or maybe it will be classed too small to be a tablet and they'll go the Gingerbread route?

Anyhow, it feels to me - with the quality of build we have now, that we're really just beginning to see the true potential of the Dell Streak... Just a case of waiting for Android Apps to make the most of it.

Cheers

Brian

im planning to merge in some gingerbread frameworks as until qualcomm release useful 3d drivers for gingerbread its gonna be near useless to do a proper port due to speed.

Don't you find carting a lead acid car battery around to power your Dell Streak a little inconvenient?

my battery life isn't great but i chalk it up to not having everything turned off. wifi, data sync, etc. are always on as i'm usually at my desk @ work and have a charger or have my wall charger handy at home. i can usually get a good 8-10 hours of heavy use, using internet, calls and texts.
