Guest pompeyboyz Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Anyone else getting Application update failures? If I try to update any of the apps I have they will download ok from the Market but fail on install with a message of invalid package file. So far it has happened to Facebook, Google Voice and TV Favs.
Guest fards Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) But the restoring of the backups works. I just reload it before maybe 20 min. restore over writes what's there, it doesn't care what's already there it wipes it off and copies over stuff from what youre restoring. Backup tries to save what it can find, it can't find the loop, it gives you the error Edited January 25, 2011 by fards
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Actually backup should be fine as it backs up the entire partition. So the ext gets pulled in to

Guest funaki Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 i flashed 1.6.1 yesterday and so far everything is working great however i am facing problem with skype. Anyone else have issues with signing into skype? it just shows signing in and wont do anything else. If you had problems how did you manage to fix it? I have already tried removing the app, reinstalling and rebooting. No Dice. Cheers

Guest pompeyboyz Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Getting a bit annoyed at the market issues and app updates failing. Wanting to go back to 1.6.0 but when I try to reflash back it crashes during boot up. I still have the install.cfg in the android->streakdroid folder but also the install.txt in the SD root. Should I delete the install.txt from the SD root or do I need to go through the 1.5.1 -> 1.6.0 fac reset route?
Guest ramtix Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I'm use some app (Screen Shot It, screenshot...) it's Force close or massage: Error Fb0 dude..i was having the same exact error yesterday after I flash 1.6.1...but now, its working fine..dunno what happened..just happy that its working fine again..

Guest BigBlue007 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) ok if you're on 161 there's some scripts steve stuck in system/bin that are causing the adfree and other issues. in adb shell (or a term or whatever) su cd /system/bin rm chmod chown df mv mount umount Or alternatively delete chmod chown df mv mount umount using root explorer from /system/bin/ it should work better then Thanks for the hint. This indeed solved the issue. Can you explain a little more detailled what these files (which are normally simple Linux commands) were meant for? They were all 7 Bytes in size and contained the term "Toolbox". Quite confusing to me... I suppose that if some app (like AdFree) uses one of these basic Linux commands, these files were executed instead of the command itself, which results in nothing instead of the desired command, right? Steve maybe able to say why they were included, I didn't realise they were till I sat down and started to work out what the issue was yesterday (been a bit hectic with daughters birthday this weekend) if you look in system/bin then there are existing scripts which do work in the same manner (these shouldn't be deleted) for example pm is # Script to start "pm" on the device, which has a very rudimentary # shell. # base=/system export CLASSPATH=$base/framework/pm.jar exec app_process $base/bin com.android.commands.pm.Pm "$@"
Guest PipoXtreme Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 no And what can or should I do now ? I like the nandroid backup so far.. it give me sometimes so much time back to restore my "old" installation ... Is there something in the market to do the same backups which should work in 1.6.1 spec.
Guest LorD CLockaN Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Well, Steve said a couple of posts back that nandroid backup should work in 1.6.1 Edited January 25, 2011 by LorD CLockaN
Guest Dogmann55 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Hi all I use ScreenShot for my screen captures and after first upgrading like others was constantly getting an error and no picture taken or saved so i tried a few of the other apps that also failed but today i removed it and then re downloaded and installed ScreenShot again and now its working fine just thought this may also be useful and also work for some of you. I have done the 1.5.1 fac reset route but gone back into 1.6.1 one last time to see if it helps. so far through app brain and titanium I have managed to install all apps aside from BT phone book which is rebooting the device everytime so that might be a separate issue. I did do the clear cache and dalvik a few times but think my issues might have arisen from the initial problems I had when installing 1.6.1 So far so good on restoring.
Guest rodmathis Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Is anyone having issues with bluetooth since upgrading to 1.6.1? I have tested a few headsets used previously on DJ Steves previous roms and none of them seem to work. I downgraded to 1.6.0 and they all work fine. Is there a new bluetooth stack in 1.6.1?
Guest BigBlue007 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 @fards: Thanks alot for the explanation.
Guest Spike8585 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 After getting my unlock code, I flashed the baseband and then flashed 1.6.1 without the 'Nobaseband' option in the .txt. Very smooth. No fact resets, no backtracking. Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction for Fastboot. It had been awhile since I had to use it.

Guest Cue_32 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Hey guys... for all who are on 1.6.1, is anyone experiencing FC after or sometimes even DURING a call? Myself and a buddy of mine are experiencing this issue.
Guest jackedint Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 moved to StreakDroid 1.6.1 from stock US Dell unlocked Froyo 2.2 (just received a replacement). This was not without a few challenges and I'm not 100% sure if everything I did was necessary... but it worked. renamed "Android" folder to "android" added "streakdroid" folder to "android" (i.e. : android\streakdroid) added install.cfg to android\streakdroid (i.e. : android\streakdroid\install.cfg) install.cfg adwlauncher volboost tabmail bios added install.cfg to root (same as above) - NOTE : I do NOT have a install.txt file added update-1.5.1.zip to root added update-1.6.1.zip to root - flashed Clockwork - flash to update-1.5.1.zip - let it boot all the way - factory reset (ran streak 4 options with holding both volume keys during boot) - let it boot all the way again into 1.5.1 - flash to update-1.6.1.zip - let it boot all the way normally - battery pull reboot - enjoy Quadrant Advanced : 1894 questions: 1) when I was struggling w/this install, there was this Android animation when restarting after the Dell circle white logo but now all I get is the Streak Droid by DJ_Steve... I miss the Android animation..., what did I miss / not install? bios? 2) 1.6.1 is speedy & my Quadrant Advanced is 1894 but I'm seeing much higher scores posted? How did you do that? Just a faster SD micro card? 3) this is my 1st Android phone/tablet but I catch on pretty fast & have done my reading. Time to figure what apps/backup program to use. I'm open to any suggestions.

Guest Cue_32 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Set your Density @ 180 or lower Thanks... I'm currently on 180 and I've also experienced this while on US160. I've just flashed the baseband again (Haven't done it since 1.5.2 so we'll see). So far my 1st test is ok but it was like that when I first flashed 1.6 and 1.6.1 and it doesn't start showing up until 2 days later.
