How to install clockwordmod recovery on GT540 with clockworkmod rom manager

I have flashed my rom to the new 2.2.1 release and want to apply two zipped updates however I cannot. I realise now that for some reason I do not have clockworkmod installed as when I choose reboot into recovery mode it just starts up as normal so I downloaded clockworkmod rom manager and chose its install recovery option but the list of devices it offers does not include GT540 so how do you guys manage it?

First u install clockwork recovery2.5 in FastBoot mode.

command :

fastboot flash recovery <recovery_name>.img

Someone might correct me on this but if your phone is not rooted I don't think you can install fastboot on the standard LG rom.
