Two quick questions. I searched the forums and could not find what I was looking for.

1. Is there a way to free up RAM by changing settings or deleting programs; or can you only free up RAM by installing a new ROM (I have two Omnia's; an i8000H with 37MB RAM free and an i8000L with 45MB RAM free and feel that they are very sluggish because of this after reading through some threads on here)?

2. The i8000L is unlocked and works with AT&T (Arizona, US) and shows a BELL Canada logo when it boots. But it will not retrieve picture messages because it dials "pda.bell.ca" or something like that instead of an AT&T server for the picture messages which I'm guessing has something to do with the fact that the phone still has BELL software on it. I figure this is because it is still a BELL phone thats is just partly unlocked and was wondering if I could fix this by changing some network/data settings or if this could only be fixed by installing a new ROM or something like that.

If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Jump on the band wagon, get a new ROM! You can select multiple files to flash onto your device. By selecting only one of these files (pda) it is safe to flash your device even if you trip over the usb cable during flashing, you can always go back to your old rom.

My warranty just expired so I'm trying out all the roms. Check out the roms section. It's very easy, you should be able to figure it out. Your my storage will stay in tact and your data setting will remain the same (bell) so you will need to change it to your ATT settings. Check out this link: http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-verizo...-for-secany-j5/ Currently trying NRG roms, and now you can actually boot Andriod, (camera, data and a few other features are in the works), according to the supporters they should be working hard to get it running soon. Check out the Rom section There a few other good roms out there I still haven't had a chance to install, just depends on your taste

OK, so how do I change my settings from Bell to AT&T? I don't care about data (only use WIFI) but I want to be able to receive and send picture messages.

I explained it to you. Click the link above ^^^ sending picture/vids uses your phones data connection but you don't get charged for it if you have mms sending support.

I could not get all the settings changed so that I could send and receive picture messages. I could input all the settings except the DATA CONNECTION: setting which gave me no option to select AT&T; it only gave me Bell and Tethered. But, I gave up on settings and went ahead and flashed the phone with one of NRGZ28's ROMS and the phone now works perfectly. He sets up everything in the ROM so you don't "have to" do anything. It got rid of the Bell software and asked right away at startup with the sim-card in if I wanted automatic setup for AT&T. It works great now.

On a side note the phone is functioning with the same amount of RAM (only about 30MBs free and dwindles with opening of more applications) but still functions much faster than the i8000 samsung/WinMo OS. HTC OS with WinMo is much better.

Thanks for the help.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I had no idea it sets up your settings automatically, I just thought it kept it the same.
