Guest The Soup Thief Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Nice one  Just installed the update for Clockwork 3.0.0.5 - went on without a hitch Hats off to you for your quick turnaround :)
Guest actualmatthew Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Worked a treat, thanks. I mainly used it to get 'back to black' as it were. After install and checking the black option in settings, restarted and all text on SMS list was dark grey on black (unreadable). Checking the option and task killing again fixed this fine. Thanks again.
Guest DrEzkimo Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 any way on gods earth this could cause my battery to be eaten up a lot quicker?
Guest That-Guy Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 any way on gods earth this could cause my battery to be eaten up a lot quicker? I think this has effected my battery in some way too. Just gone to Battery Usage and have the following: 3h 24m since unplugged - I have not charged the phone for over 12 hours lol Phone Idle 33% Cell Standby 33% Wi-Fi 33% Hmmmm
Guest chall32 Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) If you launch Spare Parts > Battery History and then look through through all the permutations, is Messaging showing up at all as a battery user? I'm running the patched messaging app from this thread, and for me Messaging only pops up under "Partial wake usage" "Since last unplugged". Pressing the "Messaging" status / button shows: "Partial Wakelock: Messaging Total time: 0s": If the replacement messaging app is using battery, I would expect it to show somewhere in battery history.... What does yours show? Edited January 27, 2011 by chall32
Guest digitaltoast Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 I think I might have hit a knowledge gap here - I FAQ'd myself silly, followed the guide and successfully installed Japanese Jellyfish RLS9. Setup my account, imported my contacts, installed apps, found this guide, downloaded the zip file, opened Clockwork, picked the option to flash this app, it rebooted and... Yes, I've got the new SMS app, but it's wiped EVERYTHING right back to when I installed JJ9. NOOOOOO! I didn't nandroid because there wasn't anything that wasn't actually recoverable. Fortunately, it's "only" wiped out 45 minutes of re-importing data and apps, setting up the network etc, not the end of the world, but I had no idea Clockwork did this. I see from other posts that just dragging the apk over the top of the old version doesn't seem to work. Also, I know this isn't entirely on-topic, but while I'm here... to install JJ9 requires Clockwork 2.5.1.8, not 3.0.0.6, but now JJ9 is installed, can I use CW 3.0.0.6 and will it allow me to install just an add-on app like this over the top, rather than wiping everything back to zero?
Guest g3ogoat Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 For anyone still having trouble with this issue... I tried many things to fix it, all either caused problems (couldn't find the right fix for the 'force close' on mms after upgrade issue) or didn't work. What fixed it in the end was using the handcent messaging app, and making sure to disable "auto retrieve mms" in the stock messaging app options. You can enable the auto retrieve option in handcent itself to avoid having to download manually. The handcent app now has a feature to check what network is in use and change the useragent to the right value. Very simple. Massive thanks to the handcent admins who helped me out with this. Just an alternative method for anyone who ends up here from google, thanks to the OP for the hard work.
Guest Smiff2 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 seems to work fine in SS RLS3, so i'm asking KK to consider for next SS release. so far one other user confirmed it works for them also. thanks.
Guest Jonny Murray Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 The NewMMS.zip file worked a treat for me , and now i get full size MMS messages on JJ9 , well happy :-)
