Wether i got a problem with dl the rom, nor i see a problem with csc and pda ... maybe i dont really understand the questions ...

@Paul:

Incredible !!!! What a snappy device with this rom .. i expected increase, maybe 10 percentage or so ... but this beta rom is far from anyother planet .... awesome ... ... camera works, my photo´s stored on picasa cloud showed up instantly in gallery3d ... the whole device "feels" pimped with helium ... so lightweight & smoooth to scroll through the ui .... ;-)

The improve is incrediable .... i had not expected such an increase "only" because of ext4 and your "custom kernel" .... :D :D

The Tab is my first android device, therefore i´am a real nOOb in Google´s Android OS, sooo ... may anyone explain me (link to wiki or post in forum etc.) the "bottom line" why there is such an significant gap between

this rom, other stock rom and even modified roms, regarding the speed etc. ...

Anyhow, why should one using overclocked kernel anymore ? .... hmmm, way to much for me ... i have to calm down .... ;) :D ;)

Thanks so much for this tweaked rom .... ;)

WiFi disconnect is still present, although it only appears to manifest itself when you activate a gps application such as gps test or open an app that uses gps... WiFi just dies until the app is closed and active gps stops. Extremely annoying ;)

great.

whats odd is that on beta 3 i didnt have any settings issues so didnt need to upgrade to beta 4..

and from there i didnt have any screen on off issues or wifi disconnects..

is it just certain tabs that suffer may be ??.

either way i havent had any problems since thew alpha and i love this rom so much..

I don't appear to have the wifi issue and the GPS locks on very quickly even indoors. I haven't had any problems with beta5 so far.

I only had the issue with the screen off in beta 4 - did a flash without wipe and screen off is working now for me.

Yes - the install package does this automatically for you. if you already have beta 1 installed, then the upgrades are very quick and simple. I find using the Clockwork recovery boot very straightforward. Download the zip file, the copy it onto your sdcard, reboot in recovery mode - select the zipfile and away you go.

HI PAUL!

The charging time is much faster than the JMF, KM2, KA1, JJ3

Operation speed is as fast as I9000 JPY voodoo v.69.

Work perfect on HK TAB, (GSM).

Just something to ask, is there any suggestion if I want to replace the system apps in the ROM ?

I want to put the deodex app like phone.apk settings.apk in chinese language extracted from ZHKA1 in to your ZIP, but clockworkmod say MD5 sum incorrect. I think this is the signiture problem, isn't it. If I unsigned the rom and signed again after replacing the chinese app, do u think it will work?

thank you for you kindness reply.

Changelog

Beta 6 03/Feb

  • Rebased on XWJMI
  • Built with updated optimisation scripts

Hello !

I have two questions :

  • Rebased on XWJMI => Does that means it changes the bootloader with the signed one from Samsung's JMI or did you remove that ?
  • Do we need CWM the first time, or does the update.zip of the beta6 install it ?

Thank you for your time.

It doesn't change the bootloader.

You need a way to install it...

Thanks. I'll put CWM first, there are tutorials everywhere on the web.

Ok, couple of question before I try this the second time (the first time I bricket it, so just thought I should verify my steps...):

To install the needed kernel, I can run the following?

heimdal flash --kernel zimage

Or is Odin the preferred way?

I guess after the kernel is in place, the steps forward are easy, just boot into recovery and let the ClockWorkMod Recovery do the rest?

Also I would like to ask if anyone has any suggestion on why my first try failed with a bricked Tab. What I did, was trying to use heimdal to dump my content to file, as I thought this could ne a nice backup...

I ran the command:

heimdall dump --chip-type NAND --chip-id 0 --output hdump2.img

and saw a file on my disk the grew larger and larger... But it took a long time and it was late, so I decided I could stop the dump (since it was only reading from the "disk") and try again the next day... The dump was stopped but when I shutdown down my Tab and tried to start it again, I only got the black screen of death and could not access the download mode anymore...

So what did I do wrong? The assumtion that the dump was only reading from the NAND or? (And yes, I know... I had no idea what I was doing... ;) )

Also, this time I was kind of hoping someone could recommend a way to take a full backup of the original ROM, in case I want/need to go back (if this is possible)?

It was much easier to install custom images on my Nexus One but this image just looks to good to not try..... ;)

Wow - just flashed beta 5 last last night and here's beta 7! Simple upgrade and everything looks good so far.

One question: this ROM added the phone dialer for me; makes sense if its a Euro build on my T-Mobile USA Tab. But I see the video call bit in the contacts too - don't remember seeing that. What service / network does the video call work on, or does it not work? Just curious. And of course, I want to use that dialer app for real phone calls, but that's another story entirely! ;)

Video calling should work on any 3G network.

P

But is that only to other Galaxy Tab owners, folks on computers using Google Chat video, etc? Trying to understand which services it can work with - I wasn't clear about that... sorry!

It's standard 3G video calling. You can use it with anyone whose phone supports it. (there are nokias or windows mobile that do, for instance) Apple did not invent videochat, far from it, I had it on an HTC kaiser at least a couple of years ago.

In France, there are even porn numbers that will do videochat with girls on your phone. (I'm not quite sure about the quality though, never tried it ;) )

I know Orange france charges the same as a regular phone call, I don't know about US carriers
