Guest Bobby Elliott Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I've tried a few but keep going back to the stock browser, which, at the very least, seems no worse than any third party browser I try. Worth checking out Firefox, which looks great on the Vega and syncs great with the desktop version of the browser. Available on the Market.
Guest add.thebad Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I switch between Miren and stock. I love the Miren bookmark widget and find that the stock browser is just a tiny bit faster. i like the widget aswell but prefer dolphin hd and their widget is ugly as. you can never win :)
Guest Logseman Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I've got a license for Dolphin (waiting for the announced tablet version), and I've tried Miren and Firefox as well. I'm using Firefox as of now because of the nice sync feature. I can't believe it's not present in the default browser as well, which is a mini-version of Chrome!
Guest steviesteve Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I myself can't find fault with Opera Mobile 11. The scrolling on heavy websites is far superior to the others, supports flash, easy for I pad users to pick up and play with because the layout is similar. Tab management is good.... for me, its the best, even got rid of dolphin after installing it but I do miss the side swipe toolbars slightly.
Guest spacecadetuk Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 +1 for stock, i like some of the features of dolphin hd but i do think stock is slightly faster
Guest Yogimax Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 +1 for stock, i like some of the features of dolphin hd but i do think stock is slightly faster +1 for miren! With a tablet you need to be able to fool the website that you are running a desktop PC and not a phone - miren does this whereas opera and Firefox don't!
Guest premieral Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 +1 for miren! With a tablet you need to be able to fool the website that you are running a desktop PC and not a phone - miren does this whereas opera and Firefox don't! Dolphin has this option too :)
Guest GabbaGabbaHey Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Worth checking out Firefox, which looks great on the Vega and syncs great with the desktop version of the browser. Agreed. Shame that Firefox doesn't support Flash on Android yet.
Guest steviesteve Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 (edited) +1 for miren! With a tablet you need to be able to fool the website that you are running a desktop PC and not a phone - miren does this whereas opera and Firefox don't! Opera does this.... In the address bar type opera:config and you can basically customise anything. In user-prefs, change custom user agent to match Chrome's and you always get desktop versions of the site you want... Or Safaris or IEs, its your choice! Edited April 25, 2011 by steviesteve
Guest warriorscot Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Opera is definately the best at the moment by far. Its even better if you use it on Desktop as it has sync and Opera has always been one of the better desktop browsers as its the most feature rich most of Firefoxs better features are straight copies from Opera.
Guest gadgetshop Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Only had my vega a few days and after reading this thread am testing different browsers i'm using miren at the moment and qiute liking it, also tried skyfire which seems ok and tried opera but didnt like at all.think i'll stick with miren for now, so thanks to the people who recommended it
Guest maverick6378 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 For me def the stock browser, does everything you need in my opinion and works fast and smooth, like the look of miren and dolphin but i find them much slower. Would be nice if stock had tabs though. Mav
Guest Jisonga Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I was using the stock browser without any problems but did find tabbed browsing a little arkward, i then flashed tnt lite rom which came with miren. This browser is not to bad and deals with tabbing better but for some reason i never felt at home with this browser so i have down loaded the latest opera browser and i got to say i really like it. Tabbing works really well and i like the home screen with one touch thumbnail links to your favourite websites. jason.
Guest Jisonga Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 As a quick update thought i would let you know that with the latest version of opera you can have more than one live page running at a time. i have just had a youtube.com video of a Tim Mcgraw song playing while browsing ebay.co.uk on another tab and it all worked just like it would on a desktop. Very impressed and thought i would share this incase others are looking for the same option for their broswing needs. jason.
Guest chockimon Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 I mainly use Dolphin HD, but Opera is quite good and the new Maxthon is also good and worth a try.
Guest phil8715 Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 I mainly use Dolphin HD, but Opera is quite good and the new Maxthon is also good and worth a try. Can you get Google Chrome browser for the Vega?
Guest Snowdan Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Not sure I have been keeping a close eye but my dolphin HD now has a white area on the right of the screen on the modaco forum that I have to zooming on every page to get rid of. No other browser I have tried has this its like the style is being applied wrong, changed user agent to all dolphin can have made no difference. Any one else seeing this its quite irritating?
Guest BTatHome Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I've been using miren for a week now but seem to be experiencing more freezes than previously. I may go back to stock ... shame as i was enjoying the miren experience.
Guest godmode Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Miren is my browser of choice. I find it excellent from a usability point of view.
Guest yetirider Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I was using Miren which i liked, I switched to Dolphin HD after reading this post. I think its a bit faster although I prefer the Miren bookmark handling.
Guest warriorscot Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Dolphin is really just the stock browser in better packaging, it has its advantages but I actually find myself using the stock quite a bit these days just because its easier sometimes than Opera or Miren. Really google just needs to update the stock to something more tablet friendly and nobody would bother with the alternatives.

Does it have a tablet optimised stock browser and if so can we rip it form somewhere?
Guest chugglet Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I am using Dolphin, in fact I am using it now. I have tried most of the browsers now and keep coming back to this one. I woild love it if Firefox offered tab browsing and flash support as Firefox is what I use on my MAC and all of my work PC's but they dont. I couldn't get on with Miren for some reason. I found Opera to be a bit slow and not much of an improvement over the stock browser however it had 1 feature that I liked which brings me to a question. Does anyone know how to configure Dolphin so that the tabs and address bar are always shown at the top of the screen like in Opera?

I use on my netbook with Google Chrome, I am surprised that it's not available for tablets.
