Guest PankajM Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 .. havent given it in yet.. im still looking for my old nokia n97 :/ cant find it :/ hey i was wondering ... why isnt there whatsapp for windows mobile?? its even available for symbian now isnt it??? Not sure about what you are saying :) and also probably not the right thread to discuss (pardon me if i am wrong). Getting back to Android topic, my device successfully installed and worked but not 100% stable and as known to all, camera and wifi are not working. So now i have uninstalled. I'll wait for these 2 to be available... Thanks to all the developers out there in advance :)
Guest erikcas Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 How to install Android on "My Storage"? Beware: This method will erase your entire "My Storage" will be erased. So this is the moment you should back-up your "My Storage" before proceeding! Assuming you have Ubuntu running: 1. Start phone in WinMo. Select USB mode to Storage -> My Storage. 2. In ubuntu, as root(!) start Gparted. (From terminal, type: sudo gparted.) If you don't have gparted installed, install it from terminal by typing: sudo apt-get install gparted 3. Select the proper disk. (usually your harddisk is sda, your "My Storage" will show up as sdb or sdc. 4. Make sure that partitions are unmounted. (right click in gparted, check if you can unmount it. If you can, do it.) 5. Erase all partitions. 6. Create ~ 1 Gig partition, right click on disc, choose fat32 file system, label (type in box): disk0 7. Create ~ 1 Gig partition, right click on free space on disk, choose ext4 file system, label disk 8. Apply! 9. After re-reading partitions by gparted, remember partitionnumber of the partition "disk" you just created (like sdbX). You will need it in step 14 10. Your partitions are created! Close gparted and unplug phone. 11. Replug your phone, check if disks are mounted. 12. Goto directory where you have unzipped 1024beta2.zip (in terminal :)) 13. type in terminal (or, offcourse, copy and paste): sudo tar zxvf ext2.tar.gz -C /media/disk 14. edit default.txt (in this directory. Correct the line Set CMDLINE "rootdelay=4 root=/dev/mmcblk1p2 init=/init" to Set CMDLINE "rootdelay=4 root=/dev/mmcblk0pX init=/init" (X is the partitionnumber you remembered in step 9) and save 15. type (copy/paste): cp default.txt haret.exe /media/disk0 16. download 2d3d drivers here (thanx to post #6 in I8000 thread) here 17. In terminal goto to directory where you just downed the 2d3d drivers, and type: sudo tar zxvf o2bupdate.tar.gz -C /media/disk (yes, correct, o2budate!) 18. Download latest kernel from google projectpage 19. Unzip and copy zImage and o2b2update.tar.gz to /media/disk0 20. Close all windows! (To prevent problems with unmounting) Unplug phone and run haret. Android should be booting! If you don't get android splash screen, and phone reboots, then rename the 2d3d update from o2bupdate.tar.gz to o2b2update.tar.gz and copy to /media/disk0 and try to boot. I used this method several times. Allways working!
Guest tjeerdos Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 a little tip. 1 rename default.txt to startup.txt 2 in winmo go with explorer to your haret.exe and copy it to your program menu as an shortcut 3 assign your harret (the shortcut) to a button this way when in winmo you only have to push the button and android starts immediately so you don´t have to go to haret with explorer and you don´t have to click run etc etc i did this all most from the beginning. but i believe i never read it in these forums. and it works great. greets tjeerdos

Guest tjeerdos Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 rev46 is not good for beta3 we have to wait for new key-update. anyways i found in settings that you can assign the job '' back to home'' to end button. so this way we can return to home screen. greets tjeerdos
Guest tjeerdos Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 where is that settings ? i did the update from ernstjanf. that didn't work so have to reinstall. when that is done i can look. i don't remember now. tjeerdos
Guest tjeerdos Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 where is that settings ? found it Under Spare Parts, select End Button Behavior and set it to Home. This way you can quickly exit out of any app by simply pressing the end call greets tjeerdos
Guest PankajM Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) Tried Froyo... Both with and without the new Kernel_B7610_ErnstJanF_TEST, but very unstable :) SoD very often... Key press leads to hanging!!! [EDIT] Seems to be stable until i called and the call muted after 1:30 then SoD! Some workaround given here http://o2droid.phj.hu/index_en.php, will try now. Thanks ErnstJanF for the 2D3D drivers and the latest Kernal... It worked :) Edited April 20, 2011 by PankajM

Guest PankajM Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Froyo is too unstable as of now :) It sleeps to death abruptly or freezes... Eagerly looking forward for stability, this is much more improved than Eclair :) Thanks to all developers in advance...
Guest atlantisc Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Can the keyboard light be turn off in this edition?
Guest erikcas Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) Can the keyboard light be turn off in this edition? This question was asked somwhere in the forums before (might not be in this topic) For this moment it does not behave similar to WinMo. It is lit when screen is on. But it dims when screen is off. So therefore it does not cause severe battery drainage, in my opinion this is minor. grtz Erik Edited April 21, 2011 by erikcas

It lits up as soon as Android boots but goes off with screen. Can anyone tell how to turn screen backlight also off, i never use it in WinMo to conserve battery. Thanks.
Guest tjeerdos Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 very good beta onlly thing i have what's not on the dev's list. is sod when hanging up the phone when someone called me. great work team!

Guest PankajM Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Very happy now, finally Android Froyo is stable on my B7610 :) I am using Froyo_beta1+2D3D drivers(1.59MB)+Kernel_REV51, nothing else. Uptime is more than 2 hours. I booted at 38% battery and started charging at 12% after 1 and half hours :) * Camera is working * 3G is working * Time auto updated * Calls working without problem after installing call light from market Small bug observed: the lock screen time does not get updated and shows value at the time of locking!!! Request to all devs: please turn off backlight for keyboard and screen, phone getting too hot (it gets hot in WinMo also if used for longer time with backlights ON)
