Thank You Paul, I got mine from PCW today (they just came back into stock, with Flash 10.1 already loaded) and after being told instore that you couldn't use the Android Market, I did some searching and found my way here. I am very pleased I did....Will be going back into PCW and telling the sales guys about this forum and your "bake". Well worth the membership.

Hi Ive just bought a Vega Today and was wanting to install this rom, mine has 1.09 on already am I ok to install this? Ive got a desire which ive rooted and s-off'd but for some reason im a little nervous doing this....

Got my Vega from PC World today with 1.09 on it. I installed the R8 ROM (much better icons etc!) but of course there was no longer any flash, but a trip to the market soon solved that! Thanks for all the hard work that obviously went into this!

Hey Bought my Advent Vega today and after following several links made my way here :> I cant seem to get the download from the first page of this thread, i get taken to a white page with a security check (enter the following in the box and submit) but nothing happens, then i get a resource not found error).

Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be great :>

Just keep trying. I've managed to download the image (but download kept stopping thus corrupting the zip) in smth like 12nd try...

But anyways...One quick question for you guys...I am currently on stock POV FW. Is it OK if I just go ahead and apply Paul's R8 or do I need to flash to the advent original 1.08?

did mine without clockwork...took about 3 attempts before the zip file was 'found' and downloaded if the usb driver install is unclear a guy on youtune has put an idiot's guide on (for idiots like me!)

This tablet does sync with contacts but does not sync calendar!

i'm fairly useless with stuff like this so i was a bit worried about bricking it but it was easy ,the only problem i had was changing the usb drivers in xp.

right i actually found a thing on another forum (not sure if you can name other forums here?) which was just a addon for the 1.09 rom i had on from when i purchased it today, it had

Small Taskbar

Market

Superuser

Spare Parts

3D Gallery

Edited build.prop for full market

so should be all i need for now i think, the only thing im not happy with is the keyboard, is there a gingerbread or htc_ime one?

Installation

To install this ROM (without using ClockworkMod recovery):

* Ensure you have USB debugging enabled on your device (enabled in Settings->Applications->Development)

* If you are using Windows, your USB 'Android Developer Bridge' driver MUST be the one included in this download (use 'Have Disk' functionality in device manager to change if required)

* Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and extract on your Windows PC, Linux PC or Mac

* Connect your device to your PC

* At a command prompt / terminal, ensure you are in the directory you extracted the files, and run 'install-windows.bat', './install-linux.sh' or './install-mac.sh' as appropriate

* Wait for your device to reboot! smile.gif

Is this compatible with win7 x64 as i cant instal the drivers ...

Hi everyone i was wondering since i upgraded to r7 tank hero doesnt work on my vega just force closes so i updated to the new version which has been changed to use tegra2's better but still the same. Any ideas anyone i love tank hero.

Yes you can. I'm running R8 on the 1.09 no problems at all.

Oh man what is it with me.

Just connected up my xp machine. Tried to install the adb drivers included in the r8 package and it says something along the lines that no hardware is found for that software or something? Should I be installing the drivers with it in recovery?

Right Ive got my drivers finally installed, do i run the bat file with the vega in recovery?

Right its installed Model Number is MoDaCo Custom ROM for the Advent Vega R8 and EC remains at 1.9.0 is that right? Out of interest i just tried to run Reckless Racing which was fine before the flash now its about 1/4 screen, any ideas on that?

I initially connected the Vega to a PC running Vista (for the initiation of the memory card and to allow transfer of files via the USB lead), but I also have Windows 7 netbook if that helps.

Running ubuntu - and have version 1.9 advent vega

However having difficulty downloading R8 custom bake rom,

I' ve copied and extracted to another directory and once in terminal the process seems to die - this is what is get before it hangs
