Guest Matty-p Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 one question just hope i get a simple answer what's a nightly? thankx FS a up to date (but also bleeding edge) build that you get every night
Guest Blues003 Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 one question just hope i get a simple answer what's a nightly? thankx FS From what I read, it's like a work-in-progress, which gets updated daily. From some nightlies, Release Candidates arise, which are more stable versions. Please correct me if I am wrong. Also, I thought Nightlies were supposed to be applied over RCs? Shouldn't we be looking foward to a RC first, then? (I'm pretty new, sorry for any noobishness).
Guest fredewis Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 a up to date (but also bleeding edge) build that you get every night so it gets better and better with every update......
Guest Matty-p Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 so it gets better and better with every update...... over time yea until we hit the point were all or (most) is working and stable then thats a rc ect

Yes we should look forward to a rc, but before we can get a rc, we need a (more or less) bugfree version. That's why there are the nightly builds...
Guest Frankish Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Having tried the latest build by flib I'm impressed by the progression however no way as smooth as flb for now. Tried multiple launchers. Great work though.
Guest Blues003 Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 over time yea until we hit the point were all or (most) is working and stable then thats a rc ect But aren't some nightlies applied over RCs? And are there not multiple RCs in some cases? What is the point of that, then? If most/all is working and stable, why more nightlies or RCs?

Guest Flumpster Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I just had the screen freeze problem after a long call for the first time. It was black and no buttons would bring it back. Plugging it into usb brought it all back alive instantly tho if that helps narrow the problem down.

The problem is easily fixed by following the instructions in this post: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1600995 Edited February 15, 2011 by exec
Guest Flumpster Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) That link isn't working.. but if it is the post with a big list of numbers to enter for brightness and buttons I already did that earlier... In fact I never had this problem at all until after doing that so I wonder if that caused it.. If that aint what your trying to link me to please say. Edited February 15, 2011 by Flumpster

Yeah my link went to that post and it's weird that it isn't working for you. I had the problem before doing the fix and now it's working perfect.
Guest Flumpster Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Very odd.. I was in a very dark room when the phone call was received but up until I changed them settings I had no probs. Maybe those settings are not the answer at all and just coincidence that mine froze after changing them. I'll leave it on these settings for the next few phone calls and if it happens again I'll reset them to what they were at default and try again. edit.. one last thing.. on that page with the settings the first number was 15 followed by 25 for screen. It would not let it go as low as 15 and would go back to the original number.. lowest I could use was 20.. did you have the same ? Edited February 15, 2011 by Flumpster
Guest Nick Rhodes Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Nightlys are work in progress, some things may break, some things get fixed as new features are added all the time. At some point in time a decision is made to make a stable version. An RC is taken as a snapshot of a nightly and is stabilised (usually bug fixes, minor app updates allowed for good reason) until someone decides its good enough to be called stable. I am not sure if the RC will be branched from nightly (creating 2 parallel versions) or if regular nightly activity is stopped to work exclusively on getting a stable version released. Cheers, Nick
Guest tom619 Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 this is all very good progress and moving very fast also, bit a newb question but i was just wondering who will actually be developing the cm7 rom now and what are all the links that matty-p posted? thanks
Guest mELIANTE Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Is there even a stable CM7 for any phone? Wouldn't making a stable CM6.1 for our blades easier at this point, making it an officially official device? That way we'd be entertained for a while :D

That way we'd be entertained for a while :D Cm6 is not supported any more by the cyanogenmod team so any new port will never be accepted as official. All focus is on CM7 now.
