Guest TData Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I'm on the beta version 1.1.1 still- how do I go about upgrading to 1.7? Do I have to reflash 2.1 first? Thank you for the help.
Guest ClippinWings Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Like I said NOTHING responds! ...that would include the sliders :P Either itll freeze after boot. Or work for about a min, then freeze. Only way to reboot is by holding down power button, or remove battery. 1.7 seams real unstable. I'm still having this exact same problem.... do we have a solution yet?
Guest dairymasta Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Has anyone else had the issue of the notification bar dropping down when exitingan app and then needing to manually pull it down again to get rid of it. Also I am getting the previously mentioned in 1.6.x volume issues on phone calls where it goes from ok to too low without steps down. +1 on that, keep dropping down after unlock and need to pull down manually and flick back up, quite annoying.
Guest nonong Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 No more fc during phone calls - LCD density at 220. :P
Guest alert_bri Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 +1 on that, keep dropping down after unlock and need to pull down manually and flick back up, quite annoying. Me too... Strange that this issue has just popped up (no pun intended!) The phone volume issue is embarrassing... Most advanced smart phone struggles as a phone :P With all due respect and gratitude to Steve & co. I swear that one day we'll have a totally stable build and I'm getting off this roundabout. :D Cheers Brian
Guest fards Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) Is there a fix for a browser crashing on wikipedia? It crashes stock browser and dolphin hd. Thanks Read the old thread Or search for libskia Steve included the altered lib skia in 170, I've just tested it and it works fine.. Edited February 9, 2011 by fards

No idea what people are on about with the phone volume, I have no issues with it at all. Try installing the 322 stock build, then reinstall 170 see if that fixes issues
Guest ak47m Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 GPS is not getting a lock at all... I upgraded from Dell's 318 build, not a rebel sim user, and I also live in the US. I used the amss.mbn upgrade for 1.5.1+, and my APN profiles are all good. My install.txt contains... noapps gbkb volboost us240 bios noswype In the Location & Security settings, I unchecked the "Use Wireless networks" and "Use assisted GPS" and only have the "Use GPS satellites" box checked... Maps and Navigator are not able to find my location and give me the error "Your current location is temporarily unavailable.", even with the phone having a broad view of the sky outside. Another thing, I'm using the Tablet Dialer implemented in 1.7.0 and during a call when you press the Menu button to bring up options, all the buttons are like squished? Like the end button? It's awfully weird O.o
Guest cowballz Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) Anyone notice the 3 touch sensitive buttons lights now turn off? How can i prevent.this from happening? Edited February 10, 2011 by cowballz

It's a major factor in favour of the platform - trying to cobble together a working platform from the available variants of drivers and frameworks is a specialist and, I hope, short term challenge... Feel free to point out any reference material Steve used to get this far and I'll do what I can to help :D What we really need is for Android to work simply and smoothly and then we can all move from system admin to system use! As I said, with all due respect and gratitude to Steve & Co. most people just want a smart phone that works smoothly and reliably. Steve is heading in the right direction, I just hope that we can reach an endpoint... or at least a stable breakpoint! Cheers Brian

Cheers Brian unfortunately, starting a sentence "with all respect" is like starting one with "I'm not a racist but" ... If what people want is stable then they should stick with stock, rather than the constant complaining which just demoralizes the people who give up their free time to do this. If you believe there well be an endpoint you really dont understand the point of community development, it's about pushing the device further and further... How much source material do you need, developer.android.com is the starting place and google for anything you dont understand....

I simply don't have the time to put into much development outside my day job. I think its safe to say 99% of people on here appreciate the work that Steve has put into this. I'll take a slightly less than stable build that's light years quicker over a 'stable' slow build any day. Of course, it helps that Steve's builds have been completely stable for me since I jumped on the bandwagon at 1.4 :P
Guest Dave Weinstein Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 My Streaks LCD broke, getting another one in. In the mean time, has anyone had any luck with any gameloft games that previously didn't work? Thanks! You don't need to get a new device. I broke the LCD on my Streak while here in Hong Kong. I took it to the local Dell service center and they replaced the screen. I had to pay for the part (HK$1100) but the labor was covered by the device warranty. Nicest thing was that they did the repair the same day. I went in at 9am to see them, and they had the device repaired and ready for me at 3pm. -dw

Guest Adilson Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Is there an easy way to add support for more languages? I tried the 1.7 and works very well but, due to my line of work, I do require brazilian portuguese support so I have to stick with stock rom for work :P Another thing, I loved the 1.6 boot animation with the console scrolling and the ascii android. Any way to have it back? Thanks in advance

Guest PipoXtreme Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Sorry guys you know there was the problem with the tabmail app in 1.6.1 update .. Is it still present in the 1.7.0 or is it solved now ?
Guest oppiz Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Hi, First of all good job making this phone on par with others inspite Dell's poor ROM. But I am running into 2 major problems with my phone. 1) Market keeps enabling my Data Network. I have a good Wi-Fi Connection and I recently tried to make it stop enabling my Data Network by using Tasker (I defined a profile that turns off Data Network whenever it goes on). If I tried accessing the market with the profile on, the following error would appear: "A network error has occured. Retry or cancel and return to the previous screen.". Even thought I have (as I said) a good Wi-FI connection. This is rather annoying as I do not have a data plan (atleast not this month). 2) Sometimes, out of the blue, processes start force-closing. That's normal , I said, and I proceed to restarting my phone. When the phone boots up (sometimes, not always) everything is force-closing. The ones that pop out as recurring each time are: Google Services Framework/Calendar Storage/Messaging/Juice Plotter/usually any app that tries to start a process. The only solution I have found to solve this is FacReset and reflashing. Hope you can help me out. Cheers

MoreLocale2 does help changing a few things but not the whole phone. 2) Funny, I tried that but got the Sterakdroid animation. Thanks!
