Guest kentt Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) I cant understand why people just dont read the posts, most problems I have encountered with Steve's builds have been resolved just by reading. Yes this means reading every entry and learning about our wonderful tablet and DJ Steves great builds. Stop griping learn and enjoy but most of all have fun. I can't understand why people like you continually post things like this. There are bugs. That is the nature of these things. Just pretending they don't exist because they aren't on your phone makes you look like a fan boy. Further, people "griping" may also be called asking for help or reporting bugs. The following are undocumented problems that simple solutions don't seem to fix: 1. Factory reset is suppose to work now but resulted in the same boot loops as 1.5.3 to 1.6.1. 2. GPS doesn't stay enabled. Factory reset and clearing caches doesn't fix this. 3. Switching from wifi to network data can cause one of these to fail. I can confirm that flashing 309 -> 322 (factory reset) -> streakmod -> 1.7.0 -> clear caches seems to have fixed these problems. My suspicion is that most of these problems are caused because factory reset does not do what it should in 1.5.1 or 1.7.0. *in all instances by factory reset I mean from the four option dell screen edit: also menu unlock works now. Didn't before. Edited February 15, 2011 by kentt

Guest wedee Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Knett I didn't follow your guide exactly as there were some issues, but heres the rundown of what I did... 309 - Could not get a recovery and pkg to match so it would not install 322 - Got both to match, installed ok Factory reset - Welcome Hong Kong! StreakMod recovery - 3.2 and 3.2.6b Fastbooted ok, but got a Dell logo with a ! when trying to run them Had to load up - Clockwork Mod Recovery 2.5.0.1 Applied Steve Droid 1.7.0 Started ok, but it didnt load swype, and base kb is messed up in that it has chinese on it as well. Build number says StreakDroid 1.7.0 Any Ideas as to what I did wrong? Just read your previous post tried "wipe dalvik cache and cache partition" still having KB issues - not sure as to what else might be wrong yet Gonna run thru it one more time using the files you linked and see if its any better.... Shouldn't matter if you use steakmod or clockwork though. Not sure what you mean kb issues. Could you elaborate? What was in your install.txt? Are you trying to use the swype beta or the one that is included by default in the streak droid rom? edit: I'm assuming you know that you can change your kb by long press in a text box? Didn't before. i may be one of those rare guys who does not have the above issues at all. I always practiced this when I flash new roms: 1. Clear dalvik cache 2. Wipe data 3. clear cache partition After that factory reset ( choice #1 ) - I have always been having successful factory reset since 1.5.0 to 1.5.1 , 1.52, 1.5.3, 1.6.0 , 1.6.1 till 1.7.0 Flash rom zip. After successful reboot - switch off - Factory reset again I have ceased restoring data from Titanium or MyBackup Pro. From the above I have also stop installing new roms/or minor upgrades on top existing rom. Credit be given to Steve but I feel it is still unable to address force close issues, sometimes WiFi, 3G problems if one does not do a complete clean install. i am no tech guy and do not understand the technicalities but I can safely say by doing the way I am doing I have yet to face any such issues. I always want to convince myself this is the best way - example last update from 1.6.1 to 1.7.0 I did a reinstall on top of 1.6.1 without wiping data/cache etc - I have FC on several apps. When WiFi disconnect , sometimes 3G need to reset manually. However after I reinstall by the steps outlined above I have not faced such issues at all. I'd say since the 1.5.1 till 1.7.0 the rom is close to perfect My methods might be tedious - it is worth it - I just need another 1 hour to reinstall all my apps. I use My backup Pro just to restore my email accounts data, SMS, call log and bookmarks

Having read the posts I am surprised at the number of repeated questions and in some cases wrong answers. All I am saying is read, learn before making any changes. Fan boy bit did make me laugh.
Guest XsCode Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Try answering the same questions several times a day on here and on the IRC channel and then call us prima donna's. Besides, the instructions kentt provided will bring more questions as they are not quite correct.. Guest tv-arnd Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Hi, looks like video is recorded into the camera directory. Should go into /sdcard/DCIM/camcorder? So that gallery app sorts it nicely. Can anybody confirm (or is this configurable)? Arnd Edited February 15, 2011 by tv-arnd
