Guest gusthy Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Actually, it isn't identical internally. Which is why it is not system-software-compatible. (It needs a different kernel.) For the real middle-of-the-road folk, a 'production' 2.2 kernel for the Blade would be very reassuring. Personally, 2.2.1 (or later) with the fix for a specific Bluetooth issue is what I am waiting for! What problem is that? Sorry, I use Bluetooth so rarely, that I didn't find any problem. I guess, the kernel source is common for all blade (-like) devices, so the custom-compiled kernels in the ROMs available here are fine.
Guest Rotmann Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 @gushy and dmxpowa, wtf is wrong with you guys? This is an English speaking forum, why do you have to chat/hijack in Hungarian on this post?

That matters! I guess, the kernel source is common for all blade (-like) devices, so the custom-compiled kernels in the ROMs available here are fine. But you are guessing that ZTE released the exact source for their production 2.2 Which they didn't quite do for 2.1 I don't think its exact and I'm not sure its flawless. Anyone using a wired headset with 2.2 got the headset button working? Edited February 11, 2011 by oh!dougal

Anyone using a wired headset with 2.2 got the headset button working? The link says it can be fixed in 2.2 too :D Also, they did not release the production 2.2 kernel as it had the exact same screen and battery problems as the 2.1 release. I am guessing they forked together a public version to hide their own stuff :P Wired headset works fine for me, button too, just tried this morning (I was too lazy to get my phone from my pocket so I was using the headset button to change track in PowerAMP).
Guest oh!dougal Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) The link says it can be fixed in 2.2 too :P I don't see anything about "it can be fixed in 2.2" on devices that show the problem, such as the Blade/SF. Vlingo say This is a known bug in Android 2.2 that is fixed on some devices and in Android 2.2.1. The problem seems to be reliably reproducible on the HTC Incredible and the HTC Evo 4G, and may occur on other Android 2.2 devices. More details about this bug can be found at the Android issue tracker: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9503 Vlingo is actively trying to find a way to work around to this issue, and if that becomes possible we will release a patch as soon as possible. If you know of a patch that fixes this bug, please do tell! Wired headset works fine for me, button too, just tried this morning (I was too lazy to get my phone from my pocket so I was using the headset button to change track in PowerAMP). Thanks, but PowerAmp (Trial) is ignoring the button for me on DX2. What rom are you running today? Edited February 11, 2011 by oh!dougal

Vlingo say If you know of a patch that fixes this bug, please do tell! Well the fact it won't appear on all devices suggests me that it can be fixed :P It is some kind of redundant call, where first the BT manager disconnects the device, then the AudioManager tried to do the same (but fails as there is no device connected, thus FC). Thanks, but PowerAmp (Trial) is ignoring the button for me on DX2. What rom are you running today? JJ RLS9, and I had no problem with other ROMs. Which one is DX2?
Guest oh!dougal Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Well the fact it won't appear on all devices suggests me that it can be fixed :P It is some kind of redundant call, where first the BT manager disconnects the device, then the AudioManager tried to do the same (but fails as there is no device connected, thus FC). I had presumed that it was a matter of getting away with something on some hardware (chipsets), but which failed spectacularly (reboot from bootanimation, so an error the kernel can't catch) on some other hardware. And thus that the 2.2.1 method did not rely on a specific hardware behaviour that all designs did not produce (like something being cleared on HardwareA nut not on HardwareB when something else happens - so B needs it to explicitly cleared, which is redundant but does no harm to A). It seems that the behaviour is only revealed after recording audio over Bluetooth (which Vlingo does, to send it away for interpretation). And I doubt that manufacturers would be testing for that and editing standard code that they didn't really think they needed to ... The fix seems to be to use 2.2.1 if your device is affected. I have no idea whether any 2.2.1 libraries could be 'borrowed' from a different device ... JJ RLS9, and I had no problem with other ROMs. Which one is DX2?I'm running v2 of Seb's de-X'd (from X880 rom)
Guest anneliese Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) Ok, just talked to the Base[1] customer support, there will be an update "soon" and there should be already some statement on the Base website. Can't find it. Edit: Support chat means "end of February" and new devices will be sold with 2.2. [1]Base is selling the Blade in Germany. Edited February 12, 2011 by anneliese
