Hello everyone.

My name is Matias, im from Argentina, and this is my first time in the forum.

I had several phones, especially Motorola, and i moded several times.

But this is my first time with a SmartPhone/WindowsPhone.

Months ago I bought my first smartphone: Samsung i8000 Omnia II and I like to modify it for use in its best performance.

I have my first modding questions:

1) I need to know if after modifying my phone I can still use the current company is Movistar?

2) I need to know if after mod i still have the Spanish language.

3) I need to know how I can make a backup of the rom and all applications that are currently installed on my phone, in case I have a problem with the flash process and have to restore everything to claim my phone company.

At the moment these are my most important question, I ask if they can answer, and since I still have the flash process.

Thanks in advance!

Matias.

Hi!

I don't know what do you exactily mean by modding. Do you mean flashing a new ROM? Do you just mean installing software?

1) Your phone will still using the same service provider as it does now. Just take some time to read about what you are going to do in order to avoid problems.

2) If you are flashing a new ROM, it depends on the language of it. Here there are a lot of english ROMs, that of course are only in english. There are some multilingual ROMs (check to see if spanish is included). And you can get them from a spanish forum where almost all ROM are in spanish (PM me if you want to now a good one).

3) Not that I know off. It's easy to make a ROM dump, but I think it's not so easy to put it back on your phone. Anyway, there are a lot of places where you can get your original ROM and flash it, in case you are no happy with your trials.

Regards.

Hi friend!

Thanks in advance for your answer, i was waiting for my first answer.

When i say 'modding' i refer to flashing a new ROM just like you say.

Im lost here in this world of flashing phones, if you dont have a problem i wish to send you a PM

to know if you can guide me to do my first flash.

Im looking that your location is Madrid, do you speak spanish?

Regards!

Matias.

I was a bit nervous about flashing my phone at first, but if you follow this quide and read about what it is you are doing, you will be fine. Just remember, until you get the hang of it, you are likely going to spend a bit of time reconfiguring your phone. Every rom I have tried has a few bugs to fix, so it is a good idea to read as much of the thread regarding the rom you are flashing so you will know the ins and outs of it to get it to your likeing.

in post 2, you will learn how to read the roms header information.
