Guest twrock Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 first flash armon-ra and format your sd card withit. than flash CWR and install CM. I wrote this sentence already somewhere. Didn't I? Um, yes, that would be a "yes". Hacker, read this carefully. All that "Recovery" (whether AmonRA or Cloclwork) is for is to get things set up (to format your SD card and to install your rom). After that, the rom take over and uses the Linux swap partition and the ext2 partition to run your phone. Recovery isn't doing anything anymore after you install your rom. So, AmonRA Recovery is only needed to get your SD card formatted correctly with a 256mb ext2 partition and a 32mb Linux swap partition. But you can't then install the rom with AmonRA. So, Clockwork Recovery is needed to install the CM rom. Then your new CM rom will use the ext2 partition to install apps onto your SD card (IF you are using DT Apps2SD), and your new CM rom will use the the swap partition to temporarily put running apps into while you use your phone. (Well, that isn't as technically correct as it can be, but you don't want to even think about fully understanding the fine details of how rom, ram, and user space memory work at this point, so don't try.) AHHHH, there, I did it again. I have got to stop trying. Is there a support group for my problem?!! :D
Guest i am not a hacker Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 so i should partition my SD with Amon RA. then reboot to bootloader and put on clockwork. then i should install CM6. all correct? And, if the apps are running on my SD, will they be slow?
Guest JimJam707 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 so i should partition my SD with Amon RA. then reboot to bootloader and put on clockwork. then i should install CM6. all correct? And, if the apps are running on my SD, will they be slow? That depends on your SD Card. If it's a class 2 (like the one that came with the pulse, I think...) the yes, they'll be really slow. A Class 4 one would be good but a Class 6 SD Card would WIN.
Guest i am not a hacker Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 what are class 6, 4, and 2 cards? Where can i get a class 4 or 6 one?
Guest JimJam707 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 what are class 6, 4, and 2 cards? Where can i get a class 4 or 6 one? Speed Class Rating The Speed Class Rating is the official unit of speed measurement for SD Cards, defined by the SD Association. The Class number represents a multiple of 8 Mb/s (1 MB/s), and meets the least sustained write speeds for a card in a fragmented state.[18] These are the ratings of some currently available cards:[18] Class 0 cards do not specify performance, which includes all legacy cards prior to class specifications. Class 2, 2 MB/s, slowest for SDHC cards. Class 4, 4 MB/s. Class 6, 6 MB/s. Class 10, 10 MB/s. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I bought a Class 4 8gb Micro SD From Amazon.
