Guest alexzhou Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Ok, so I'm loving the Vega but the screen can be a bit glitchy, I've tried calibrating the screen and am currently using Pauls r8 but I noticed that the screen was behaviour was getting weirder - unless I was holding the Vega in a particular way it wouldn't respond correctly (so zooming on a page instead of scrolling the page as I drag a single finger down the screen) and it wasn't picking up presses either - just tried the calculator and could get it to work if I was holding the tablet in one particluar way but if I held it in other orientations or angles it would give different results so : leaving it flat on the table : no response holding it at an angle with my right hand(I'm left handed) with the camera on the left side and pressing any button on the row with 4 in would give a 4, if I rotate the through 180 then I get whatever is at the other end of the row so I thought I would reboot and now when I turn it on and go to unlock it I press on the lock and that slides off the screen and it selects the muting slider so I can mute and un mute but can't unlock ! I've had a quick search and couldn't find anything - does anybody know if there is another way to unlock the screen ? This is not software problem, it's the touch panel problem, you have to return it to advent to fix it.
Guest d45h Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 This is not software problem, it's the touch panel problem, you have to return it to advent to fix it. My touchscreen started registering multiple touches with a single finger. keyboard was unusable. Pressing one place registered in two places and/or multiple times. When I finally put it to sleep I could not unlock it. Couldn't drag to unlock. I reflashed stock 1.08 and the custom rom. Seemed ok for a while then went nuts again. Screen calibration app didn't help...then I very carefully cleaned the whole screen... ...which totally fixed it. Maybe worth a try before sending it back. Also...on a software note...bably written Android apps can screw up when you rotate the screen. The OS shuts down and restarts activities when the screen rotates. It is up to the activity to correctly save state and restore it. Personally mine is locked to landscape.
Guest cultiv8ed Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Mine went crazy again, even after I had the calibration perfect and it had been working fine for a few sessions. So I gave in, flashed the stock 1.09 ROM and took it to PC World to "repair" (replace). Just have to wait to see what they say.
Guest frada01 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Well, replaced the Vega, reflashed R8 and reinstalled the apps and this certainly seems much more responsive, I'm sure the screen is clearer - but most importantly it isn't picking up multiple touches with a single finger anymore ! Had similar issue with mine. had it since the 4 of December and many mods applied. Started playing up a week ago. I re flashed 3 or 4 time to factory defaults but after 5 minutes of use the touch screen would start to play up. Luckily it only took a couple of minutes at PS world to replicate the issue and even luckier they had some in stock and replaced it no questions. Question is do i sell it now as I have a BNIB Advent?????

Guest iwomack Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) I had exactly the issue as described in this thread. 1. bought the Vega 2. immediatly flashed it after an initial play 3. by the evening the screen had gone weird (I had put a few bits and pieces (apps) on there) 4. turn off, on, off, on etc would sometimes fix the issue...for a short while. 5. reflashed the stock ROM ready for return. Issue was still happening after flash. 6. Went to PC world (Oxford), demonstrated the issue, and they simply replaced the unit (5 days after initial purchase). 7. [in store] turned the new unit on, checked it, off, on, checked it. No problems 8. took it home and flashed it 9. No problems now, it's working very well. Conclusion - if you are seeing this issue then don't put up with it, it's a faulty unit and seemingly not r8 related. Just take it back for an exchange. I hope that helps someone. #edit: unit purchased initially on the 15th March with v1.09. Changed at same shop on the 20th (so presumably the same batch of stock) and it's fine. Guest angelfish-IT Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 CLEANING THE SCREEN WORKS I have had my Vega for 2 days. Each morning I have had the problem where the screen lock wont move. I clean the screen and it works straight away! Not sure whether it is a fault though as a bit of dirt on the screen should not cause malfunction! does this happen on all Vega's?

This fault has happened to me 4 times now. It seems to be every time the unit has been left alone for a long period! I'm going to have to call Dixon's support. Edited April 7, 2011 by angelfish-IT

Yes give them a call mine started off as an intermittent problem and gradually grew worse, the only difficulty I had was when taking it back a) they didn't know what to do (tell them it is a code 5 at least that is what it is for PCWorld) :D trying to demonstrate the problem - I recorded the problem on my phone and played them the video (I did finally get it to show the fault in store too)
