Guest _melchett Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Looks like theres been an update on the website you linked to: "Therefore, Huawei Technologies to make the team after discussion the following decisions: not to U8220/U8230 handset development android2.2 version, but still Android2.1 version of the bug will be fixed." So no 2.2 as the kernal "will drive a lot of problems difficult to solve, many uncertain factors, leading to the final developed stability can not be met on the version of Huawei's quality requirements" Yoda has spoken...
Guest AntonioPT Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Huawei said that if the developers have Wifi driver code and other requirements, you can also share access to the forum I didn't quite understand what you said (sorry) but we don't have the wifi driver's source code. We use the ar6000.ko module as provided by Huawei in their official roms, and it closed source. I think carriers and manufactorers are getting more and more lazy. A company like Huawei probably has more than a dozen of dedicated, full-time developers, probably with degrees on programming, embedded systems, etc. But still they can't sucessfully port 2.2 to the Pulse. And Tom, just one guy that programs for his hobby, ported a almost fully functional ROM in one month or so. If he worked full-time it could probably be done in one week! Nowadays people don't like their work, they work because they have to and not because they like it. Not just on Android development, but on every job imaginable. Where is our world heading? Nowadays people don't like their work, they work because they have to and not because they like it. Not just on Android development, but on every job imaginable. Where is our world heading? Its not the fact that huawei isnt capable of getting a working 2.2 rom, its just the fact that they are a business who cares less about their customers and more about the money and they are not willing to continue support for a phone that is just over a year old, they want people to go out to the shops and actually get a new phone, tom however is doing it not for money but like you said as a hobby and even he will not support the pulse forever If people want the latest and greatest software then the best that they can do at this point is either wait to see if tom would return with an updated cm rom, someone else releases something new or (regretably) move away from the pulse onto a new and more capable phone, as for an official cyanogenmod rom, they have shown no interest in releasing an official cm6 (because its unsupported now) or a cm7 rom even after countless comments on the created thread over on the offfical cyanogenmod forums and I have sent an email asking for them to support it and no reply back (yet) Sadly enough, the zte blade has probably got further than the pulse has in the whole of its life cycle, they have got a 2.2 rom and a official cm7 (2.3) rom and the zte blade hasnt been out that long (good 4-5 months) Edited February 18, 2011 by Richard_Arkless

Guest anarkill Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Huawei said if any developer want to get the wifi driver's or other source code, they may provide it. it's a lie. Some people from Belarusian Forum u8230.ru requested the source code of developments on the 2.6.32 kernel. But they refuse to naming different reasons. It is felt that they just pretended that worked on firmware so we finally convinced that it is impossible to create and stop asking.

Guest iKrautDroid Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 ... with focus on "later" ... Did anybody request the drivers?
Guest AntonioPT Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Did anybody request the drivers? Yeah, instead of just saying that they won't release the drivers, blablabla, it's better to ask some chinese user to request the drivers at their forum.
