reading this thread I'm taking it that the verdict is

"going to be great but not quite ready"

would that be about right?

Not quite.

The ROM is ready for use now. 99% of the "problems" are due to people not reading the thread and posting about "problems" that are already solved or could have been avoided if they followed the instructions properly. There are some issues but nothing like the amount of ill-informed posts on here would have you believe.

That is the defect tracker. To my mind there are only 2 issues here that will affect regular use and only 1 of those is semi-serious.

I have titanium pro back-up, what are settings I should use to back-up before I install this?

So, you're not affected by the proximity bug? That's the dealbraker for me.

I also had a couple of occasions last night where the touch screen would fail to respond and had to battery pull to get phone to restart.

Me too, screen lock-unlock with power button solved it.

For all: Stagefright works now, and with the new JIT (even better than on Froyo) and the really good 3D HW decoder (Adreno 200, remember? Same as Nexus One!), a result around 850-1050 is totally legit.

I select always use proximity sensor and I have no problem

edit: the reason I can't see that problem is because I use dialer2 from market, but switching to stock dialer I see problem.

With dialer2 sometimes screen goes blank, but the second you push menu it wakes

Submitted issue 2860: Apps/games that use native code with libs in the .APK installed on SD (CM standard) force close if not moved to phone. Look here and vote (click on the little star) if you encounter the same problem (Opera Mini, Angry Birds etc. will crash if not moved to phone).

5MP Camera is black-and-white. When I try to use app "camera 360" it freezes the whole phone when I try to take a picture.

Either I'm a little slow today or even high maintenance, but could you please elaborate? Where did you select this entry? I'm still new to cyanogenmod and the amount of settings is quite overwhelming, so I'm simply lost. This bug is as mentioned before the dealbraker for me using it on a day to day basis. So I'm quite eager to get rid of this bug. One way or the other.

Use dialer2 from market, when screen blacks push menu and will wake straight away.

edit: Forget I said that cause I just tested it more and sometimes the problem still persists even with dialer2

Anyone else have a problem where you can't sign into your google account?

Edit: Scratch that a reboot solved it.

Has anyone tried stock Gingerbread phone app?

EDIT: Hmm seems to work but was only a short call. Also images were not located properly for the sliders when answering.

Scratch that. No worky.

ok think i found a little fix for ending call when screen goes out,i not tested it much but its worked so far

Go on market, get "just shake free"in the settings theres option to end call with shake.not exactly ideal but does the job.

Ok, thanks, found it. And yes, astonishingly this seems to do the trick. It is just a workaround, though. This issue has to be dealt with. Normal is not the proper priority for this kind of issue.

Agreed. It is a broken part of the basic functionality of the device. The phone part broken = a no go rom....i'm trying to live with it though :D

Does this blank screen thingy happens in all duration calls? I cant really reproduce that bug on my phone.. i make a call, o cover the proximity sensor it goes off then i uncover it and it turns on.

Like i said i tested this only in quick calls.
